Appearance: Honored by ravishing black hair and branded by the Arian face of warrior scorn, Exernus is something of a perennially morose, gaunt-faced vulture of a man; with tall physique, fawn complexion and standoffish demeanor denoting him best. Biography: As a byproduct of genetic engineering and advanced cybernetics vanguarded by the Vatican’s private ministry of scientific research, "Exernus" is a disposable series of BLACK ANGEL's regenerative bio-weapon copies explicitly tasked with extermination, alongside relaying information from the battlefield and back to the Vatican during the Hunt; its second unit, Exernus II, is the sole colleague to Douglas Winchester during Phase 3, 4 and 5.

His creation follows the desertion of the Order’s very first genetically augmented meta-human and prototype gone awry, Exernus I. Bred in the incubation chamber of the Vatican’s experimental weapon’s vault, Exernus II was raised under the pious Roman Catholic milieu of the Vatican city since his very inception.

Sequestered from the outside world for the nature of his existence and what would come to be his role in the Vatican’s impending quest for Demonic extermination, Exernus spent his earliest years under the clandestine shadow of the church and its foster care until he became a suitable host for an assistive nanoscopic transplant technology, prior to becoming one of BLACK ANGEL’s leading exterminators at the forefront of the Hunt next to Douglas.

Personality: Stern, paramilitant and iron-fisted, Exernus II is an austere drake of a man whose existence is closely married to his work. As perhaps the most subservient man of the Order, Exernus is the Vatican’s highest standard of excellence, reiterating the church’s dogmatic ideals in the kill. However, his penchant for dutiful machine-like exactness and precision in the name of the church has earned the tenacious gun-slinging cleric many less than flattering epithets to describe him; of countless occasion, the Exorcist has been called "brainwashed" and "dog-like", especially when this affinity for single-minded completion extends even to the genocidal goal of the Hunt.

Exernus can be quite voluble in expressing his contempt for the adversary on the battlefield, namely in ways that persecute inhumans, or the "Enemy", for their blasphemous betrayal of the holy, as asseverated by Vatican decree. Despite this, he is otherwise taciturn towards his peer officers; still, more talkative than his partner Douglas however, who is distinguished by virtual muteness in comparison.

Being the occasional voice for both the mute Winchester and their order's cause, the iron-hard Exorcist and enforcer is not beyond prying in order to extract vital information either; slippery and less than honorable tactics of interrogation or intel-gathering are the missionary’s usual measures of resort should brute force, blitzkrieg tactics prove inefficient. Likewise, for Exernus, the meritorious badge of “virtue” under their pious cause means nothing where the mission is concerned; he does not play fair when it comes to purging, and his methods can be serpentine if the objective demands it. The Order surely prefers it that way.

As BLACK ANGEL's vigilant reconnaissance hunter on the front lines, he is a mindless drone hawk for the church's motives, living solely for the mission and finding purpose only in its success. Consequently, the staid missionary is frequently prone to reducing things like “honor” and “fairness” to needless obstructions in the way of their divine assignment; unalike to Douglas, who has occasionally shown the capacity for fairness against those of exceptional valor.

In the end, just as his expendable creation suggests, Exernus believes himself to be little more than an automaton, and he prides himself on this designation; his contempt for the Enemy no more than an unnerving shadow of the Vatican's.

Abilities:

Nano-Accretion: For their infinitesimal dimension, to call these ingenious little workers small or manifold alone would be a childlike estimation of their true scale. In examining the caliber of this technology, it should not be mistaken, these microscopic helpers -- dubbed Servants for their bodily benefaction -- are incredible not simply for their size or multitude, but for the sophistication of their design. Linked cybernetically to the cleric's brain and by extension central nervous system, these miracles record electrical synaptic impulses as lightning command-input information, tending to everything from the ghastliest wounds and afflictions down to even the tiniest inklings of pain and discomfort felt -- sending swarms of Servants to asses, mend and repair the damage Exernus sustains in battle. This superbly augments the Exorcist's regenerative meta-human faculties.

There is speculation that the cleric even has the means to deploy this cybernetic army beyond the scope of his very own body, a skill-set germane to the remote way Servants can be commanded. Though, their deployment in this way has never been officially witnessed before.

Mimetic Forging: Thanks to the magnus of this advanced bio-integrated technology, through their amalgam, the pygmy Servants also possess a unique flair for fabrication. Servants are able to forge highly complex carbon structures through their uniformity; these being constructs whose anatomical designs are of course pre-encoded unto the nano-technology's microscopic programming memory. Following every nanite's individual cybernetic processing nucleus and their map of the 3D structures imprinted, with directive, this mimetic forging faculty can render the whole re-creation of body-parts and weapons both, alongside their purposeful design ( i.e swords, handguns ).

However, due to the vast complexity of these objects and their assembly, this configuration not only takes time to effectuate but is sparsely limited to the construction of only a select few byproducts. Furthermore it should be noted, that since the number of Servants it takes to assemble these highly intricate models are so dense, the nano-defense system that contributes to Exernus' passive healing factor and bodily repair is sacrificially undermined to prioritize the formation of this skill-task. This drawback makes it a faculty Exernus only uses at rare necessity.

Faith: Additionally, this technology is also a panacea against somatic nuisances. Programmed to detect and eliminate all nonnative agents that invade the cleric's temple, this cybernetic legion becomes a fine regiment for internal defense, transforming the cleric's body into a nigh-on impenetrable aegis against the nefarious elements of biological intrusion and trespass. Because of their scope, these envoys can target the chemistry of an affliction, such as toxicants or viruses, deconstructing the molecular-make of an insurgent property. This makes their army a catholicon against illness and disease. Extensively, because Exernus' nervous system has assimilated the Pygmy Servants completely, he can choose to pilot this function of the nano-machinic "domain" overriding its autonomous restorative programming at whim, if need be.

Weapons & items:

Long-coat: A fashionably militant greige long-coat accented by red and steel-gray linings. It stows many secrets.

KG-9: A compact, fully automatic sub-machine gun. Ideal for concealment, portability and most of all, purging. It has become, perhaps, the most notorious symbol of their mission, and it seldom fails.

A bible: The book of their faith. The strongest armament of all.
