Ready for a long story?
Last year, I was taking a class where we read Beowulf and Grendel. For a project relating to them, I had decided to look at some of the culture and mythology of the Anglo-Saxons.
I ended up discovering that Friday was named after Freida, their goddess of the hunt (if I remember correctly). They had also named a town after her called Frydaythorpe.
I told my friends all this, and we came to a unanimous decision that it sounded better as a holiday. So we decided that the fifth Friday in any month is now Frydaythorpe, and that it is celebrated by wearing a hat one normally wouldn't and wishing other people a merry Frydaythorpe. We now have a party every Frydaythorpe. biggrin
So.
Frydaythorpe is coming.
Bring a hat. ;D
