"He's a bit busy at the moment, not that it matters, so..."
He shrugged, setting the ceramic tortoise shell cat on the sideboard in the hall.

Xié'è Mao battered him some more with his paws as he struggled, grinning with his knife-like teeth.
His remaining Jiang-shi closed in around them, hungry for the Nogitsune's life force.
"When I am done with you, my servants will use your lifeforce for broth," he hissed, delivering one last crushing blow.

Xié'è Mao roared in the Nogitsune's face, using a humongous paw to slap him into one of the Undermarket's stone pillars. He pounced on the fox, batting him about like a rat caught by a house cat.
"I WILL NOT BE MADE OUT TO BE A FOOL! NOT BY ONE OF YOU RICE-STEALING BASTARDS!"

Mao screamed in pain as panicked vendors ran, hurdling over their dead competitors to avoid the enraged demon. Scavenging and gloating would come later.
There was the smell of burning wood and sickly chemicals as Mao screeched and spat, raking his iron claws everywhere he could.

"I will use your entrails to feed the pigs and I will use your skin as an umbrella," he howled, blood lust emanating from his very being.
"I will dine upon your flesh and use your empty skull as a chamber pot!"

Mao slapped the snapping jaws with a clawed paw, striking up a cloud of red mist.
He tensed as he ran for the nogitsune, leaping for the other creature's throat, biting down up on the flesh with a fearsome anger.
"YOU TRIED TO SSSSSSTEAL MY QUARRY! I WILL HAVE YOUR PELT TO LINE MY SCATBOX!"

"FOOL!" Mao roared, shaking the dirt from the roots far above all their heads. He swelled in size, growing to the size of a large bus, his teeth and claws glowing like steel as his aura stripped away everything nearby.
"I AM XIÉ'È MAO! I AM THE CAT THAT UMTAK KTHARL COULD NOT KILL! I AM THE BEAST THE BONEWIND COULD NOT BREAK!"
He slammed his gargantuan paw on the man's chest, yowling like demon he was as the knife merely scraped along his fur.
"I WILL NOT BE DISTURBED BY A PETULANT MAD CHILD!" he shrieked, swiping his paw into the man's chest.

The jiang shi lept in front of the man, snatching Mao from him and coming in between him and the necromancer.
"You stupid piece of rot," Xié'è Mao hissed at the hopping vampire. "Took you long enough!"
He arched his spine, pieces of stall shrapnel floating into the air as many of the merchants glowed with their own auras of power, angry over their destroyed goods.

The other jiang shi dragged Cabal away by his ankles, too much of his life force drained away for him to protest or move.

The rest of the retinue stumbled back, Cabal turning a shade of white and tripping as one of his guards stepped forward to assist Mao.
Glaring at the nogitsune with ember eyes,Xié'è Mao's mouth split into a wide grin and he began to purr. "Dear cousin, you do my work for me!" he chuckled, shifting his gaze to the European.
"Maybe I am what you seek... But you dare wreck my market, like a rice-sucking spoiled brat?" Mao growled with the ferocity of a tiger, his aura just as dark as the nogitsune's, striking the ground with waves of spirit flame.

The cat launched itself at the man's face, screaming in a fury as it tore at his flesh.
"I AM XIÉ'È MAO! I AM THE MASTER OF THE UNDERMARKET AND I WILL NOT BE MADE A FOOL OF!"

The man holding the cushion lumbered over, grabbing the stranger by the wrists in an iron grip.

The human male shook his head, sweating as his own guards still held tightly onto him. "Stop interfering, you damned idiot. I'd rather not be drained to death because of your idiocy."

"He is a THIEF!" the cat hissed, cleaning its tail. "He stole something that belonged to me and he is to receive his due punishment."

The blonde man between the two jiangshi curled his lip into a sneer as the cat was brought over to him. "Yes, Mister Cabal will pay for his misdeeds and he will pay interest on it, mark my words." With a swipe of his claws, Xié'è Mao scored a trail of bloody lines across the man's face, making him hiss in pain. "Filthy dog," the cat spat, licking the blood from its paws.

There was a furious yowling as the fat calico hissed and turned on the person who stepped on its tail, stopping the group in its tracks.

"YOU DARE STEP ON MY BEAUTIFUL TAIL?" Xié'è Mao spat, jumping onto the cushion held by a sickly looking man. "I demand reparation! I am the master of the Undermarket and you have injured me!"

Two pale-green retainers slowly turned on the spot from where they had been guarding the prisoner between them, watching their master as they waited for orders.
The man between them, stripped of his valuables and weapons, rolled his eyes, but kept his mouth shut. He seemed familiar with the cat and its men.
