My main society (that I adore and join each year) is Sutekh, the nerdy sci-fi/fantasy/gaming geek society. It's one of the biggest societies (considering it's range of interests covered, not surprisingly) and they have weekly screenings of various tv shows and a bunch of other events. When OotP came out there was an outing to the film. Best experience ever: watching a HP film in a room full of geeks and nerds who giggle at the slashy bits that a normal audience would ignore. Truly fantastic night that was. Anywho.... there's also the Creative Anachronists who are the mediaeval society, they dress up and lear to hit each other with swords.

There's an inner child society and they have finger painting events and everything. It's awesome. There's also a chocolate appreciation society if you like chocolate.

The party scene is because most uni students are 18+ and you're only young once... plus uni is slightly less demanding than a full time job.

Of my 4 subjects a semester I do 1 chem and 3 arts (this semester 2 english and 1 german), and this is by choice. And o-week is for the whole uni, to get into the swing of things, party before homework builds up, join clubs and societies. It's a nice 3 days (VSU killed o-week).

Pity darcysoc's events are mostly on main campus. I just worked out most of my timetable (personal ones aren't available yet but you can get a fair idea from the central timetabling unit site)... and I have fridays off, wahoo! I love doing mostly arts, i have practically no contact hours. =) I can't wait for o-week, it's going to be fun fun fun.

Which campus is Speech Pathology taught at? If it's on Camperdown-Darlington I might see you around (and have no idea who you are, but the thought is there)... and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed China. Week and a half till Uni, yay! Oh and I recommend you go to O-week (even if it is only 3 days) it's a lot of fun and you get the chance to join a whole load of clubs and societies. I think you'll find Darcysoc much to your liking.

In theory it's snowy in Germany through winter, in actuality? Well sometimes it is, sometimes not. They've been having relatively sowless winters lately (at least so my german host sister says). Is winter snowy in China? I really know very little about asia and, well, anywhere that isn't europe. I'm just a tad eurocentric, with the exception of my liking for cosplay, anime and manga.

One thing I do remember is that I you can accept your offer online.... it's in-person enrolment later that needs you to be in the country. And even then you can have someone enrol you by proxy or sommat.

Where are you off to? I wish I could have a plan to be leaving the country for some reason or other... it would mean going to Germany and I'd rather be living the German winter rather than the disgusting weather we've been having here.

I used to ship drarry, when I was young and naive... so back in my angsty period at high school. Now I ship snarry (I know what you think, but no chan stuff, those fics are creepy). As for the fun of writing as a group, yes. We did have heaps of fun planning the story... I'm gonna finish it one day, our 1 chapter wonder, first I have a snarry plotbunny that I'm working on. I know what the premise is, and essentially the outcome... I also know roughly what the ultimate situation/scene is... I just don't know what to do with what is chronologically first. I've never been much of a fic writer though, I read reams and reams of fic, novel length snarry epics... but writing. Makes me wonder why the hell I'm doing English at uni for (the answer being I'm gonna learn Old English and Old Norse).

Oh hey, do you know your offers yet? It's only been 2 years but you forget very quickly how the whole HSC UAC thingy works...

I dunno about writing with a friend. The one time I tried, I wrote my first chapter and she never got around to writing hers... I'm gonna try and finish that fic some day. Should be easy as it's a drarry and it won't get as tainted by the snarry I read. And bugger a thunderstorm seems to be coming over. It's nice to have rain though.

I love Shirley Henderson in practically everything she does, the Shakespeare Retold is no exception. With Fanfic I get similarly bogged down, I've had a plot bunny racing round my head for months, but I can't quite figure out how to tell it. It's very frustrating.
