On second thought no: Was it not a pen that Hamlet's Uncle used to write the letter that doomed his friend to execution by beheading? Yes, a sword can dismember, but it is following the will of the pen.

In response to your signature. In the book version of Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal used a pen to create a makeshift key for his handcuffs, before he bit the cop's face off. In the film Red Eye, the actress stabs Cilian Murphey in the throat with a pen.

Don't underestimate the power of the pen.
