Hello.

My name is Byzantine Trilane, better known as Byzantine the Amethyst. You probably don't know me. Which is fine, since this is likely the only time we'll talk. I'm not the type to make friends, so don't bother. The only reason I'm doing this in the first place is because I'm being put up to it by Reno. If I didn't, he would anyway. Blame him, alright?

I'm from the Slums of Midgar. Yeah, I know what you're thinking; What's a slummer like me doing in SOLDIER. Well, it's a bit more complicated than that. But I'm not telling you. Either way, I eventually became a SOLDIER. One of the best. I worked with the Turks mostly, so I'm not some big-shot hero like the General. Too much attention for me, anyway.

I was on indefinite suspension for turning down a mission when AVALANCHE began it's work knocking down ShinRa like bowling pins. By the time that dunderhead of a military commander Heidegger though about summoning me back, it was too late. Which is fine, I didn't really like him or much of the rest of the ShinRa hierarchy much.

And that's all I'm going to tell you. That's the important stuff, and you already know more about me then some of my actual friends.
