Character Information
Name: Leopold “Butters” Stotch
Height: 5'11
Weight: 137 lbs
Personality: Butters is optimistic, friendly, accepting, and doesn’t like to offend.
He can be too quick to trust, and follow the lead of others. Considering all he’s been through, you’d think he would know better by now, but he seems to honestly want to believe the best of people, and strives to be accepted by them.
He has managed to get a bit better at shifting the truth from the lies, and saying no when asked to do something he thinks will get him in to trouble. But unfortunately for him, it still doesn’t take much to get him to believe things that sound false, or to do something he doesn’t want to. All it takes is a little guilt thrown his way. He’s all too quick to let himself take the blame for things, or to believe he’s done something wrong, despite any evidence to the contrary. Most likely it’s due to his father blaming him for anything, from misplaced pantry items, to the sky being too blue.
This has lead to him not really understanding the difference between someone who honestly wants to be his friend, and someone who only wants to use him and will gladly manipulate him to do it.
Whenever he thinks he’s in trouble, or thinks he will be in trouble, he can have tiny little freak outs of sorts.
It mostly consists of him stuttering more often and fidgeting a lot, as well as occasionally cleaning or tiding things up in whatever room he’s in. The last part may be something he picked up from his mother, or simply a subconscious attempted to make people less angry at him by at least having the room tidy.
He can also be blunt without really meaning to be, and he’s a terribly bad liar. It almost seems as if someone slipped him a permanent truth serum. Even when he’s actively trying to lie or hide something, it’s not only obvious but he almost always lets the truth squeak by somehow.
History: All though Butters is notorious for being naive and gullible, academically speaking he’s actually pretty smart, with math being something of a specialty, if needed he can even be used as a human calculator.
He’s been volunteering as a tutor since elementary and has continued to do so on in to high school.
He’s also built up a pretty extensive knowledge of sci-fi, and monster folk lore, much to the disappointment of his parents. Occasionally he’ll buy books and comics on these subjects. Surprisingly, it’s not something he actually gets in trouble for, just something that’s slightly frowned upon. But god only knows how long it will be until it does turn in to something he can get in trouble for.
Recently, he’s also taken on a job at the book store he gets most of these things from. He doesn’t see much of the money he receives from the work he dose (about three fourths of it goes to his parents), but he seems to enjoy it for the most part, and most of the people there are nice enough.
Art has become more prevalent in his life, to the point that he’s usually carrying around a sketch book. He has two of them and usually only carries one or the other around with him. One is mostly full of sketches of people, various characters, and vehicles. The other is filled with different monsters and creatures, influenced either by the books and comics he reads, or by his occasional night-terrors. This one he usually tries to hide, especially from his parents. It’s nothing too bad really. In fact due to his style, a lot of these things, even if they are creepy, can come off as almost cute in some small way. But he still doesn’t like the idea of them finding out about it, mostly because some of the little creepers in his book, may just bare some slight resemblance to his father and a certain uncle. Not on purpose exactly, they just turned out that way.
Occasionally he might let his art teacher, or a friend he trusts see it if they happen to catch him drawing in it and take an interest.
Honestly though, about the only friend he wouldn’t trust enough to show this to would probably be Eric Cartman, who might also make an appearance of sorts in that book.
The larger boy really dose have something of a power over him though, even now.
No matter how many times he gets Butters in to trouble, guilt’s him in to doing something stupid, plays horrible tricks on him, blames him for his own mistakes, abuses him, or just generally makes his life a living hell, Butters can’t bring himself to tell the other boy to just go take a flying leap.
He can’t even bring himself to call him anything other than a friend.
A few small tears or a few well played promises (that will likely go unfulfilled) are all it takes for Butters to flock to the other boy’s side and follow him to the ends of the earth.
But at the same time, he can’t in all honesty say he really likes Eric most of the time, and until he waves around one of his guilt trips, Butters really only trusts Eric about as far as he can kick the over sized boy.
And then of course there is the little matter of a certain alter ego.
Most would probably believe that the Professor Chaos phase would have been just that, a little phase that he would have eventually grown out of, but his alter ego has managed to grow up right along with the rest of him. He’s even upgraded to a real metal (still technically tin, but thicker tin) helmet that he managed to make at an art camp.
Though he still dose occasional schemes with his sidekick General Disarray, more often times he tries to do things simply to get the attention of a certain South Park hero. Becoming something of a Joker to Mysterion’s Batman, or really, if you want to be more comic-book accurate, he would probably be more of a Harley Quinn but that just doesn’t sound as good.
The schemes themselves haven’t upgraded much, still revolving around “spreading chaos”, and “trying to take over”, only to be defeated. What has changed is that, though most of the time these stunts really seem like little more than a game, there have been rare occasions where he makes his attacks a little more personal. Such as the few occasions when he’s “thrown a little chaos” back in Eric Cartman’s direction. It doesn’t happen often though, due to the repercussions of Eric finding out it was him that blacked out his windows, unplugged his alarm clock, "kidnapped" a possession, or plastic warped his toilet seat in the middle of the night.Total Value: 3,691,767 Gold
