It all depends on your ethnicity, seriously. If you're white, you may get a few looks but you'll be fine. If you're black,they treat you like an alien. Either way if you're a foreigner, you'll probably have a problem with culture shock and its even worse if you don't speak their language(they'll assume you don't anyway). Just try to fit in, give up your seat to old ladies on the train and they'll love you. Any other questions just ask me! biggrin

Japan is amazing, everyone is incredibly polite.
If you look helpless/lost, you usually can find someone to help you.

Tips include buying a travel guide for background info,
if you're going to Tokyo - then start in one of the quieter districts so you don't get instant culture shock.
Don't point your chopsticks at someone.
Trains are an absolute godsend in Japan and are VERY punctual.
You're going to meet people who are fascinated with you, so remember to be polite.
