exactly. old, corny stuff is great if it's well timed or done in an interesting way. agreed.

my musical tastes are kinda weird. not particularly passionate about music overall, but I like what I like. idk. sweatdrop

I also read that he blamed himself for Savatage's lack of mainstream success. I wish TSO would promote their origins in Savatage more, because that could easily spread awareness. they deserve to be more notable than they are.
totally understandable that both age and his weight could screw up his voice, but apparently that's not the case. and he just has such a unique vocal talent.

nothing musical or even artistic is truly original anymore anyway. everything is a ripoff of something else in some form. lol
generally speaking, that's what should happen when you've got a supergroup. the material should match the quality of the members.

in some ways, that kinda mirrors the fall of Savatage and the origin of TSO. all the resources and talent went away from Savatage until O'Neil killed it completely. at least it lives on via Jon Oliva's Pain.

I'm not super familiar with all their stuff to be honest. haven't heard the whole thing either, but from what I have heard, I like "Spectres"

yeah, the instrumental is a bit weak. though it's not actually Savatage, just Jon with a bunch of other people.

sounds like you need to get caught up before the new one comes out. xd

absolutely. 3nodding
they did a cover of "Nothing Else Matters" that's both nearly identical to Metallica's original, yet much better. it's spooky. Jon sounds almost exactly like Hetfield.
Jon also did some work with Avantasia, doing guest vocals on "Death is Just a Feeling"
but yes, definitely a great and criminally underrated band emotion_brofist

it's a travesty. and his punishment for killing someone was essentially a slap on the wrist. he should've been locked up forever.

oh, definitely. that's such a good album.
overall, probably Hall of the Mountain King. though I'm also a fan of their later stuff, especially Poets and Madmen.

such a tragedy. and the worst part is, the damned drunk driver that killed him had numerous DUIs before that and spent a ridiculously short amount of time in jail for it. evil
