The TARDIS was getting closer, which meant that the Master was closer to gaining himself a new ship. Sure, he had rockets that he had outfitted, but... They weren't one of Gallifrey's legendary crafts.
"What did he precisely say to you?" the Master asked, trying not to let the glee show on his face.
3 freaks and a TARDIS. He only cared about owning one of the freaks and becoming the captain of the TARDIS. To have the Doctor strapped naked to his console at all times, like a pair of fuzzy dice in a car's rear view mirror. Naked fuzzy dice. He opened a drawer and pulled out a black book and a pen, uncapping the pen and preparing to write down whatever the man told him.
Just as Hart believes he's got the Doctor cornered, the skinny streak of nothing slides out sideways, strolling past him with a casual air that did not lend him the look of a man in danger. "My brain is a clever thing, you know, works faster than most."
The laugh pulls a sarcastic little smile from the Doctor, his famed snarky nature showing itself within it. "I don't need a gun to beat you, and I definitely don't need muscle for it either, because you see I have something you have very little of." He steps backward with each forward motion. "A brain~."
"I'm sure he didn't specifically say what you could and couldn't do to me, wastes too much time to sound like the Master, but I wouldn't expect any less of you than making your own loopholes." He casually steps back, long coat fluttering about his legs. "And you're daft if you think I'd let you touch me like that."
He can only shake his head, brown eyes cast skyward as if to ask the heavens above to save him from this pervert.
"You can poke and prod all you like, mate, but I'm not going to tell you anything more about it." Persistence would get him nowhere with the Doctor, and after years of dealing with those like Hart his well of patience was endless.
Oh good lord, why did he have to put it that way? The Doctor only forced a smile, crossing both arms over his chest. "Still none of your business, mate."
He knew Koschei would never let Hart lay a hand on him, and it was for that reason he felt little threat from the captain. "You mean Ianto? Yes well, Jack required a companion for the trip, tends to get lonely at night if you get my meaning. I was only fulfilling a request, besides, I'm sure he didn't want him anywhere near you."
He crosses those lanky arms over his chest, thin lips drawn back into an unreadable little smile, wall thick behind brown eyes where they were once so deep and open.
"Needed someone to guard my TARDIS, can't have a repeat performance from the last time the Master popped up."
All those little words meant to make his blood boil rolled off him like oil on water, confident dark eyes staring at him from behind half mast lids, clearly unimpressed with his tale. Things had changed, and he would not be upset so easily this time.
"He does more for me than you would know, but that is none of your business."
