Hello! My name is Ahkward! I'm an art student in western Florida. I happen to be a Junior Illustration major at Ringling College of Art and Design. I plan to graduate in May of 2015 if all goes as planned. I also previously graduated from Aims Community College with a AAS in Animation. While animation is one of many loves, I fell into a deep passion for the pre-production stages, such as concept art, visual development, storyboards, mood boards, etc.
Another deep love of mine is Comics and Graphic novels. I recently found this world, and it has a hard grasp on me! I love attending conventions to meet other artists just like me! I aspire ultimately to work for a comic company, preferably as a colorist or inker.
I am most fascinated by fantasy, myth and legends. I started drawing a few years ago, roughly 2010 when I started my animation degree, and I have been drawing ever since. My favorite medium is ink, but I still love my good old Pencil and Photoshop.
Most often I will sketch and plan an image on paper with traditional media, and then scan into Photoshop to finish the rest!
I currently work as a part time freelancer and commission artist on various websites. I honestly do not offer them often, nor do I take many, as my education at Ringling College is the highest priority I have right now.
You can see examples of my work here, or you may inquire about my portfolio via a private message. Please only serious inquiries only. I will request that you state your name and which company you represent, if applicable, and why you are inquiring.
If you have these accounts, you may find me here:
Dhe Naoers: Hokoe Yugha
Hokoe Yugha is one of my characters for a story I have been building over the last two years.
Dhe Mkarishuers: Tuhk, Luihn ot Mkeshu
These characters are based on the same story as the characters above. Majority drawn by hand on 11x14 bristol with ink and pro-white. Gradients, moons/arcs, and some white highlights added digitally.
In total... about 20-30 hours easy over 2 roughs, ink and final edits.
The following are more artworks. I'm afraid I can't go over each one, that would take up a very large amount of profile space! I hope you enjoy.
