Symtec was a failing pharmaceutical company whose CEO was placed inside of a mental hospital for a two year period. After exiting the hospital Maxmillian Lorendo the third put Symtec on the map. Seemingly overnight he transformed the struggling company into a multi-billion dollar organization. Unknown to the members Maxmillian was in reality possessed by the son of a star god. He was the dreaded Vile in disguise. Led by the hostile alien Symtec lead an economical campaign to control the globe. Gabriel Bowser the one time close friend questioned Max's sudden thirst for power and abandoning of all his former ties, but his greed kept him quiet. He was useful to Vile and was kept around as head of the research division. A position with to much power and money involved for Gabriel to risk losing with prying questions. When Vile and his plans fell apart with his death the company was bequeathed to the short time lover of Vile. Seeing an opportunity and hurt that Maxmillian's boy toy would receive what he had worked so hard for Gabriel incited a riot within the company. Using it as a distraction he stole mass quantities of SymTec research, money, equipment, and employees. Forming the corporation Collec-Tec they went underground. Gabriel already knew exactly what his first move would be. Shortly before the death of Vile a new organism had appeared on the planet. It was a massive mountain sized tree and early SymTec research had shown that this tree was putting a new source of energy into the air. Building a temporary lab they stayed off the grid doing experiments with the strange substance radiating off of the tree. Eventually they decided to call this new substance mana seeing as how it was a derivative of magic. Their research progressed until they hit a wall. The temporary labs they had setup were no longer sufficient to continue reliable research into mana and it's practical uses. They caught a break when the Zetsumei descended from space in order to try and save Anadoria from the perils of the dark god Maegos. In the midst of this they wound up in a massive fight and lost many of their ships. The resulting crater filled landscape came to be known as the Zetsumei Battleground. Not knowing what kind of contaminants might leak from the ships the governing officials of Silver City quarantined the area. The Zetsumei battleground was eventually declared radiation free and the land and everything on it was put up for sale to the highest bidder. Using the considerable resources at his disposal and with the questionable disappearance of the biggest competitors Gabriel secured the grounds for Collec-Tec. They scavenged the ships and built their headquarters on top of the crater filled site. Setting to work immediately they combined the technology they stole from SymTec with the scavenged Zetsumei Empire technology. This created technology more advanced than what Vile had come up with for SymTec, but gave it stability as it was designed to be used on Anadoria rather than outer space. Now they had all the resources and tech needed to research mana to it's full potential. Work on the Slither Project began immediately. Using several common harmless parasites as a base they used gene splicing and a mana fusion technique they created the first Sliver. In Collec-Tec's research they found that mana had natural evolution properties. If exposed to large doses over time the natural evolution potential of the subject would be reached. The engineered parasite known as a sliver was bio-engineered to attach it'self to it's hosts spine and inject massive amounts of mana into the nerves of the body. This causes rapid cellular change as the host is forced to achieve a state of evolution. Collec-Tec is still pursuing research into making a more stable and controllable parasite, but is more than willing to put the dangerous parasite out on the market as is. While completing their research Collec-Tec put much of it's resources into making their facility as self sustaining as possible. Hiring workers from war ravaged cities they built factories, and homes for their workers. As their research grew so did the makeshift city. Using mana to power the city they created factories and underground farms. Everything they would need to maintain total control of the populous was built and maintained by Collec-Tec. Running it as a police state the city state came to be known as Red City. Most people say it's because of the red sunsets caused by the smog being belted out by the factories, but in reality it's because of the blood Collec-Tec has spilled in silencing all dissidents. The company now uses the labor of it's people to manufacter and sell products of all variety. If it can be made in a factory chances are Collec-Tec has a hand in selling it. Most residents of Anadoria know about the police state that has sprung up in such a short time, but the ability to buy their household goods at slightly lower prices gives most people a strange apathy. They aren't the ones suffering so why should they care? Recently there has been a power shift in the corporation. Gabriel in a fit of madness detonated a soul bomb in Red City destroying it. Now his successor. Johnathon Gard, has taken over the company and reclaimed the city.
Slither Parasite:
This is the first gen Slither. It is Collec-Tec's first attempt at harnessing the power of mana for bio-weapon purposes. As a parasite it attaches it'self to the spinal column of it's host. As it feeds off of the nerves in the body it also delivers mass quantities of a modified version of mana into the hosts nerves. This causes the mana to force a rapid state of evolution. This makes the host reach it's evolutionary potential in a short time. The time this takes can vary from host to host. Humans having the highest evolutionary potential undergo immediate change in both size and body. Insects also take relatively little time to mature into monstrous versions of their former selfs. The more highly evolved the race the slower the changes will take. Some beings may be infected and not notice it until a century later. One unfortunate side effect of rapid evolution is the subject becomes filled with an uncontrollable rage that wipes out most cognitive functions leaving the subject only able to react on an animalistic level. This makes intelligent targets a dangerous host. Animals which can be caged and unleashed at their owners leisure make for better hosts. The slither's inability to breed prevents a major breakout from occurring. This ensures the maximum potential for a lethal precision weapon. With the data for the NHEAT virus now secured research into the second generation is progressing smoothly.
Red City Army:
Collec-Tec prefers to use humans as soldiers and augment their natural abilities with technology and the Slither parasites. They created a special control mechanism mounted onto the back of every soldiers armor. This device allows the commanders to decide the evolution of their soldiers in short bursts modifying speed and strength. So long as the mechanism remains undamaged the slither inside is contained and the mutations will not spread beyond what the commanding officers want. In dire emergencies the Collec-Tec executives and the Red Army commanders can initiate an override code which will inject the slither straight into the spinal column of the soldier and cause immediate mutation. This also causes the berserk rage characteristic of rapid forced evolution making it a last resort as the infect soldier will attack anything on sight. The Red City Army uses railguns for most of their weaponry. This allows them to have guns that fire bullets whose size would be otherwise impossible with recoil factored in. Their main assault rifle fires a ,75 caliber slug with a thirty round clip. Their rounds are made out of silver and covered in holy runes making them effective against most magical beings on Anadoria. Elite precision shooters are also given the Red Devil S-19, a high powered sniper rifle firing a 90.caliber round with precision up to two miles away.
The AFPC or Armored Flying Personnel Carrier is designed to get soldiers quickly to the battlefield. Each one is designed to hold about fifty soldiers and their gear. They are heavily armored and fast moving but have little in the means of offense. Usually these are accompanied by Stingers fast moving heavily armed fighter craft. There is a modified version of this carrier called the AFTC or Armored Flying Tank Carrier that can carry up to three Hover Tanks each.
The stinger is a single manned fast moving heavily armed fighter craft. In addition to having two 90 caliber machine railguns mounted to the front each craft is capable of releasing twelve rockets capable of being heat or magic guided from each side of the craft. They have weak armor however and most anti-aircraft fire will rip the Stinger to shreds.
The Brute is a hover tank with a five man crew mounted with a 90 cal machine gun and is capable of firing a 556 mm explosive round. These heavily armored pieces are capable of taking an immense beating.
The Paladin is actually a mobile artillery piece capable of delivering pin point accurate sustained fire during the worst of conditions. It's cannon is capable of firing a 1055mm shell with different loads depending on what the situation calls for. The typical round fires explosive ammunition but can also carry white phosphorus for lighting up the night sky and other types.
The RCA Spearhead is the flagship of Collec-Tec's armada. With more defenses than I feel like naming here it is three times the size of the Striker vessel. It's manned by three thousand crew members, and has room for another three thousand military personnel. This space faring vessel is currently under construction. When finished it will be used to extend Collec-Tec's reach to the stars.
The RCA Striker vessel is the standard space faring vessel in Collec-Tec's arsenal. They are armed with multiple 90 cal machine guns and three 1055mm artillery pieces capable of firing in all directions. These vessels have decent manuverability and shielding. While not the most advanced ships on the board their firepower makes them powerful weapons both planet side and space side.
Red City Army Spec Ops
When Collec-Tec needs a small strike team to accomplish a mission they turn to their Spec Ops division. These soldiers are highly trained and well equipped capable of accomplishing difficult missions under harsh conditions. Their primary fire arm is a 60.cal rail submachine gun that has a twenty round clip. As backup they also have a 50.cal pistol with a fifteen round clip. The suit they wear is reinforced with the same armor that the standard RCA soldier wears, but it also has an advanced computer system integrated into it that allows the soldiers to see vital information and keep in contact with their teammates and home base.
Red City Police
The Red City police are there to ensure the peace is kept. They are positioned all around the city and keep an eye on the citizenry. They enforce the laws and curfew times. Unlike the RCA the Red City Police have nothing to do with the Sliver Parasite and thus can be filled with members of any race. In fact it is preferred to get non human members to drive up membership in the RCA. As law officers they are authorized to execute dissidents and criminals on the spot. Those that aren't killed are hauled off to an extremely biased court and sentenced to work in the factories until death. There armor is integrated with the same glass like fiber that is present in all of the RCA's troops. In addition they have a computer integrated in that is linked to a central system. This allows them to pull up data on any citizen at any point in time, and also allows the Watchers to keep track of the officers. If one is killed then the every police officer is alerted to the exact location of the incident. This also allows an officer to call for backup and communicate with other officers with ease. Their primary weapon is a 50.cal pistol codenamed the Hydra, but when things get bad they have a 50.cal submachine gun as a backup weapon.
