longtitle (PoT drabble, Yanagi/Marui, G)
raaaaaaaawr. So chem kind of owned everyone. The average on the quiz was a 16.6 out of 30, apparently. xd

...I slept so much today. nya.

Um, um, and... there was... oh yeah! So I was doing katakana homework last night, and one of them was to fill out a word search with katakana words. I stole Kyaroru's (because that's her name now!) PoT manga volume to look for some. :3 By reading it. It was one she got because it had Fuji on the cover and I was enjoying it because it was one of the Rikkai volumes (in Japanese, of course). So my word search is full of things like "data," "tennis," "racket," "fight," etc. >D

DrabbleDay, Day Six. Prompt: Mannequin. Pairing: ...Yanagi/Marui

on why marui shouldn't go shopping

"I'm gonna sue."

The look on Yanagi's face could almost have been called amused, if Marui, or anyone else, had ever been any good at reading the looks on Yanagi's face. "Are you?"

"Yes," Marui continued determinedly and with just a touch of bitterness in his voice, as he walked out of the mall and Yanagi followed. "One of those Hyoutei guys has got to have a lawyer in their family somewhere. Shishido, maybe. Or that Oshitari guy... what do you think?"

"Ootori, actually," Yanagi corrected absently. "Bunta..."

Marui stopped for a moment, glancing back inquiringly at his teammate. "Hm?"

"Are you all right?"

"Fine," Marui replied, the sarcasm in his voice practically tangible. "Absolutely peachy. No way I could be better! Unless, you know, that mannequin hadn't fallen on me or something."

"I meant," Yanagi clarified, and this time his tone was purely serious, "are you hurt?"

"Of course not," Marui snapped back, a little too quickly, and looked away before Yanagi could see his face. Yanagi frowned. "A genius like me wouldn't be caught that off-guard."

Yanagi said nothing, just sighed softly to himself. Marui blinked, tilting his head to the side. Yanagi reached over and grabbed his hand.

Without thinking, Marui yelped and pulled it back, cradling his wrist. "Ow!" Yanagi watched him dispassionately, and Marui scowled, annoyance creasing his face. "You knew!"

"...there was a seventy percent chance that you were injured when you fell and were simply hiding it," Yanagi answered at last, and Marui had the feeling that he was being looked at disapprovingly, even though Yanagi's eyes were still firmly closed.

He skipped the chance to ask how, exactly, Yanagi knew where he was hurt, and settled for a defiant, "Yeah, so?"

"Why?" Yanagi asked, even though he already knew the answer.

"It's almost Nationals," Marui said, and there was almost pleading in his eyes. "And we can't afford to lose any practice time. Not if we want to get back at Seigaku."

"That is precisely why we cannot afford to be at anything less than our best when we face them," Yanagi replied, and there was an uncharacteristic iciness in his voice that made Marui shiver once.

"But if Sanada knew, or Yukimura, then--" Marui began, and then stopped abruptly, as he realized that the same applied to Yanagi as well. He let out a word, softly, that middle-schoolers should not know or use, and eyed his teammate dubiously.

Yanagi only sighed again, softly. "You should get that tended to," he scolded, and then paused. "Why were you looking at lady's clothes anyway?"

"Planning my wedding," Marui answered without pause.

Yanagi stared at him, speechless -- they were only in middle school, wasn't it too early to be thinking about weddings? What kind of joke was this? Marui grinned, blew a large green apple bubble in Yanagi's face, wrapped his fingers around Yanagi's wrist, and kept walking.

"Bunta--"

"What did you think of what that mannequin was wearing?" interrupted Marui, before Yanagi had quite figured out what he was about to say. "Before it fell on me."

Yanagi never thought he would be required to give his opinion on fashion, much less on dresses, and all he could get out was, "Er." Marui turned to him again, blinking expectantly, and he shook his head minutely. "...a bit overexaggerated, I think. The amount of lace was unnecessary."

"You thought so too, huh?" Marui blew another bubble, before he popped it thoughtfully. "Oh well. It still would've looked good on you."

...perhaps it was a good thing that mannequin had fallen, then, and taken its flamboyant garments with it.

"I'm asking Seiichi to take you off the team for a week."

"Yanagi!"
