Beneath the Lilac Snow: Prologue
Prologue

I checked my watch once again. Soon. I knew that something was going to happen soon.

*Knock knock*

“Come in.” I said as I put my mother’s watch away.

I then took out my father’s pocket watch as whoever it was came in. It was time to start what I needed to do before bed. The library here would have to do. It would be quiet with the main girls gone.

“Sir, Edmund-san.” Said the soft oriental voice.

“Apple.” I said turning around, “You have reports?”

She wore a black suit with a black hood over her face. She stood just by the door in the shadows. I could barely see her, but she was there. So she had just come form the others at the mansion.

“Sins and her team have reported that the inner VonHelsons are growing restless. Particularly Vladimir.”

“Tell me something I do not know.” I said.

“Rei and Luna report from following the twins. They have been trailing Gino for about a week now with their...followers...”

“Gino...” I said. He was much like his father even if he said otherwise. Always being followed by trouble, “Have Rei and Luna continue to trail them. Tryra is in with the twin’s group so they can keep Gino safe for now if anything should happen. Those three are to keep that boy safe.”

“Very well, and what about...Terpis?”

“Terpis is doing what she does best my beloved...” I had to chuckle at that. Apple got worried when Sins was not with my beloved little redhead, “She is in the tunnel with her group. They are diverting a path to the mansion to join with Sins later.”

“And where shall I go?” Apple said

“Continue communications with your ninjas they are the best in Gaia, I trust none other with the job. Any reports from them?”

“Just one.” She still didn’t move from her spot near the doorway in the shadows. It annoyed me she was so mysterious like this. She continued despite my making a hardened face at this thought, “My men say Zhivago is loosing favor with Vladimir, he is sending his son to find Ian.”

I sighed lightly. If she could guess my feelings, I had no idea.

Zhivago...an old “friend”, an old “Comrade.” If it wasn’t for him...

“Do not worry about him.” I said shaking my head of the thoughts that plagued me, “It is almost over...then...I can rest...”

“Edmund-san?” she asked again.

Her voice annoyed me more than the fact she was a ninja also.

“Go. You know your assignment. Is there anything else?”

“No. That is all.” She said softly, as if I hurt her.

I heard the door shut almost noiselessly. She was gone.

I placed my father’s watch back into my pocket next to my mother’s. I turned and went to the bookshelf and entered the secret room next to the library no one knew about.

Here I write you what you desperately need to know.
