Confusing Love
This is a fan fiction, of the HenryxEmma shipping of the former RP between me and Emma Puppy.

Beginnings: Part 1

Emma stood next to the antique shop window and looked down at the two silver candle sticks. She clenched her hand. They looked just like her mother’s, the ones that grandfather gave her when she married the first time… She shook her head a little, and looked back to the candlesticks: No use getting upset over it, it was done and over with. She looked at the price, and sighed. No way could she buy them, they cost more than her rent.

Oh well,” she thought, “Looking at them will do no harm.

Henry stretched and yawned as he stepped away from the Jr. College. He loved his job, just not the meetings. While he had to concede that they did help department communications, the schedules and problems were the same. He looked at his watch and started. The meeting had run late, and he was about to miss the early train home. He was angry with himself, not much, but just aggravated. He had wanted to get home early tonight, he had been coming home late these past few days, but then again, this was part of the new adjustments he had to make lately.

He began running towards the station hoping to catch the train.

Emma felt the spring breeze, and shivered. She turned around and looked at the town clock, wrapping her arms around herself to keep warm. It had been a warm day, so she had only taken a small, light jacket with her, doing no good in the evening breeze. She detested wearing the stupid skirt uniforms from work, but it was a job: It paid the bills.

Look out!” Suddenly someone yelled out.

She turned and saw the man stumbling towards her. She whipped around and caught him by the arm, pulling him out of his fall that would have landed him right where she had been standing.

Henry opened his eyes. He had been falling, he knew that much. He had remembered the smell of flowers, and black hair in his face before he had closed his eyes, and prepared to fall. At that moment he felt the pressure on his right arm and looked at it. There was a hand there gripping him. He looked up at the owner of that hand.

He saw a short, young woman, with long black hair looking back at him with fiery green eyes. A few strands of hair fell in front of her face as she stared with silent anger at him.

You should really watch where you are going.” She said letting go of his arm, pushing it away.

He really wanted to say back “Well you should watch where you are standing!”, but he thought better of teasing a random stranger on the street. So he just smiled sheepishly.

I’m sorry.

Emma looked at the stupid man looking at her and gave a mental sigh. He was a tall man with light brown hair, and his brown eyes, hiding behind light rimed, circle glasses, were colored somewhere between light and dark. His smile made her nervous, his eyes seemed soft, and his hair seemed to blow easily in the breeze.

She distrusted strange men, and this one was no exception.

I’m sorry,” he said rubbing the back of his head, “I wasn’t really paying attention…

Well, she could have told him that.

Just pay attention more in the future.” Emma said huffily closing her eyes and turning away.

Let me repay you for your kindness.” The man said. “I’m not going to make that train anyway…

Emma looked back at him and scrutinized him. He was looking up from his watch, as the nearby clock at the station struck the hour, and the train’s whistle blew to warn it’s departure.

He was still smiling.

I don’t know…” she said crossing her arms, “I don’t even know you!

The man laughed and extended his hand.

My name is Henry.

It scared Henry, as he held out his hand, that he had laughed like that. It had been months since he had laughed at anything whole heartedly. He watched, amused, as the woman looked at him, deciding whether or not to shake his hand.

It was damned scary that he was this amused.

He smiled despite a chilling feeling, and watched as she sighed heavily, uncrossed her arms, and took his hand.

I am Emma.
