Chapter 1
Ortiz rode with is army riding south. He feels his body ached from the days of non-stop journey.
"Prepare the meal," Ortiz commanded.
They stopped. The cooks took out pots and pans. Some other men made a fire in the middle of the plains.
I have planned well. In a few days, we will reach Aramanth. There will be enough food for everyone. Ortiz thought.
"Sir," said a soldier. "how are you planning to attack the Manth people?"
"With catapults. They won't know what strike them. With my command, we will charge into the panicked city. Take what we want and leave." Ortiz said simply.
Ortiz rode away, under his breath he muttered the oath: All that I have done, I have done for you.

Kestrel Hath stood with her brother, Bowman, waiting for the final step of the wedding ceremony. She didn't want to come but her mother said that it is most impolite to not go.
I'm really not enjoying this, Bo. Kestrel sent a thought to her brother.
Me neither. I am going to leave.
But mother will not let you.
Who said anything about asking her.
Ok, but can I come with you? I can't stand it here,
No Kess, I want to be alone.
As Bo sneaked off, Pinto, the youngest of the Hath family, saw him.
"Bo, where are you going?" she asked. "Can I come with you? This place is really boring. This flower in my hair makes me look stupid."
"Sorry Pinpin," Bowman said.
"Don't call me Pinpin!" Pinto said. "I'm not a baby anymore!"
She grows up so quickly, Bowman thought to himself.
Bowman went straight to the beach. He strolled around.
I feel it in me. The power of the Morah. I am now a part of it. I wish it never happened. He thought. I can't let it control me. I can't ask Kess to help me. This is my burden. I will carry it alone.
If only Bowman had looked up, he will see the smoke of the fire from far off. It would have prevented everything from happening.
