I've been trying to drive the prices up for Sushi Error. For the past month, the supply had been hovering around 5-10 all in the 8,000 range. In the past couple days, the supply went down and the price started to creep up into the 10k range. One of the Sushi Errors was 12k. So, instead of putting mine at the lowest buy price, I decided to put some higher. One which was 11,999 and another 25,000.
Overnight all Sushi Errors were sold out. Resold in the range of 70,000 to 100,000 each. Then in a matter of days, the market was flooded with Sushi Errors with people driving the price down in a competitive battle to claim the lowest buy price. It is now down to 9,000 again. Sure, I may have profited from this. But it pisses me off that a person is so desperate to get something sold that they take 5,000 off the lowest buy price, then someone else takes another 5,000 off to compete against him/her. So much for the price rise.
There is an important lesson in all of this though. There are two types of buyers in this market. People who want the item and people who want to profit off the item.
Then there are waves of suppliers. The second wave is from what I have explained. When the first wave of supplies deplete, a second wave comes who want to profit from the low supply of the first wave.
Having knowledge of how many a particular item is around is important and whether the demand for that item exists is equally important.
It's bad to invest in items with a high supply because of future waves.
