Hendrix, Heps McKenzie, & the Occasional Gyro Under a bed in Raney Hall, typing away at her computer, is a college freshman most of you know as Iron Anne Kidd. She's aspiring to be a chef, but first she's getting a major in English at Hendrix. This...is her, or rather my, story...

The Mod Skillz
I'm gonna be saying, "I've got Mod Skillz!" for a while, both because it's fun to say & I've recently been made a moderator for the Lunar guild. I'll do what I can to keep the guild a fun place for all. It'll be pretty easy since we don't get too many problems, & the ones we do get I can probably solve by poking with my pitchfork pokeystick. twisted

The Birthday Party Theme
It's gonna be a tripped out party. Quite literally since that's the theme. Personally, I don't approve of the use of illegal drugs, but I do like some of the things that are associated with/came from using drugs. In any case, it'll be a weekend to remember, but we'll probably forget.

The Insomniac Edition
I don't feel like sleeping right now even though I probably should. Hmm, there's a knot in my thigh. How'd that get there? As you can see, I'm not very interesting when I'm sleep deprived, but it is kind of funny that I'm so easily amused in this state. I mean, I thought it was funny that my roomie's foot is sticking out of her covers. I guess I just don't know what I want to do...

The Classes
They're going pretty well, except I was late for tai chi. sweatdrop I was doing my math homework & I was so determined to get it done that I didn't look at the clock until my stomach started growling. Even though when I looked up I was 5 minutes late, it didn't register until the second or third time. I ended up being 15 minutes late. crying I hate being that late for anything. I did a lot of stuff last night, even though none of it involved that violin performance I wanted to go to. Ah well. No use crying over spilt milk. Besides, I went along with Amy to her karate class. I enjoyed it & I'm thinking about staying for the full free trial month. Amy said I was doing well for a first timer. Anyway, after that I went with my dad to our church group meeting & then we got groceries for a man & his wife who needed help. The man repairs computers & had a printer for sale, so Dad's gonna get that for me to help the guy out & because I want a printer. Can't think of a better win-win situation than that.

The New Roomie Is Finally Here
Back in school again, but now with my long-awaited roomie. She likes anime as much/more than I do. xd I think we're gonna get along great. Now if only my mouse would work...

The Slayers Marathon
What better way to end my super-long holiday than by sitting on the comfy couch watching all of my favorite anime? Good ol' Slayers! All three seasons are sitting comfortably within reach. Even though I've seen the whole series a couple of times now, it still amuses me to no end. It definitely has replay value as far as I'm concerned.

The One Where I Get Biblical
Long story short, the actions of some people made me mad & ashamed of being a Christian. I ranted about it in my livejournal (aura_da_gamer) so I'll just put my main point up here.

"If I speak in human and angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge; if I have all faith so as to move mountains but I do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things. At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love." ~1 Corinthians 13

That's all anyone needs to know.

The Feeling of Inner Discovery
I've been meaning to try out meditation for a while & finally got around to it. Considering I've only really tried it once, I can't really say I'm an expert on it or anything, but I do know what I feel. Left alone with nothing but the thought of my breath, something hit me like a brick: The only true way to be at peace is to recognize & accept the fact that everyone is at war with themselves & each other. Boy did that make me feel a lot better about being human & about my family & friends. It's like my brain took knowledge I already knew & rearranged it into something like that while I was thinking of other things. In short, meditation is a golden opprotunity for epiphany.
