Brother: Marcus Makaiau

I was born a few minutes before my younger brother Lucas, twenty two years ago. My parents thought it fitting to call me Marcus, which means warlike, I think it’s a pretty suitable name. Not, that I’m into war it’s just that I’m more than a bit competitive. I have been most of my life, and with a twin I’ve always had someone to compete with. I was always above average in school but my real passion had nothing to do with class rooms. I was born for sports. It was in my blood so to speak. And, soccer was my name to fame.

Right out of high school I got an all expensive paid scholarship and so I went with it. For four years, I was on the team going back and forth around the country to different games and even a few international travels and games were played and won during my college years. Once I was done with a degree in business, I came home. Tried the work corporate office but it wasn’t my style. Then I was offered the job as the coach for one of the private schools on the island. I couldn’t resist soccer was my love, and the schedule also left me free to tour with the national team in the summer. What better job could a guy ask for?

Early this year my brother went through a bad break up. Things were pretty rough on him and so I decided to give him that needed push. So I set up an online account and started chatting to a few girls as if I was him. But, there was this one chick; she really caught my attention and suddenly I wasn’t my brother I was just me…using my brother’s name. I know, I know it’s wrong especially seeing as I have a girl. I just can’t help it. This one is perfect. And, while I still have feelings for my girl…they just aren’t feelings of love. I just have no idea how to break up with her.

Everyone knows me by Donovan Apollo Bancorft or they call me Van. I have been around for thousands of years, but I look twenty-five. I have parts of a male. I act wwith reason at all times. I weigh all events before I rush into them. I am not a man to fly by the seat of my pants, but every thing must be planned. I’ve already learned this lesson in more than one of my lives. Lessons have taught me to be cautious and that every action has a reaction, and some of them have worse repercussion than others. I’ve also realize, that silence is just as deadly as speaking up. And, so I learn to be silent when it is prudent, but also to speak up when the moment demands justice.

I enjoy order and harmony. I’m rather organized, patient and logical. It takes a while to rile me and I often don’t allow things to bother me. I have learned in pervious centuries to be careful with my reactions to various situations. More than once in my life, I have caused devastation upon those by allowing my anger to get the most of me.

At times, the logical part can be a contradiction with my love of arts, music and poetry. Or is it? I like to think that art is the logical expression of our feelings. And, it is better to express these feelings than to hold them, now there could not be anything more logical than that. How else can we understand our feelings if not through the logical examination of them? I believe it is through our exploration of situations that we find the true emotion to all things. Through these emotions we are able to share our experience, which is seen as universal instead of person. This is the reason the creative process is so potent, even in this century. And, this is only a few of the attributes I display in public. My secret is that I am The god Apollo and I can control things such as; light, the sun; truth and prophecy; archery; medicine and healing; music, poetry, and the arts..

My life story is simple; I was born to Leto. My mother was banned from having birth on terra firma. So, my twin sister Artemis and myself were born on the floating islands of Delos. I was born seven days after my sister, and was giving powers over; the sun, light, healing and the arts. Years, passed and there has always been tension between myself and those that live on Olympious. But, because Zeus is indeed my father I make an appearance whenever he calls, it is not as if I can say no. There had been many warnings on our father’s part about his mortal children, but many did not heed his words. And, we learned our lesson.

We all had been gathered at another party held by Zeus. All of us, were giving drink in which our father placed a special vial that damned us to earth. It did not take my siblings and myself to figure out we were sentenced to a life as mortals with limited powers. After, a century of dying I had become use to the life as an earthling. However, in my third century my father came to me in a dream. Apparently, the longer we stayed on earth the more human we became until one day we would loose the powers that made us immortal and die. That of course, was not as what I had been expecting to hear.

So, the prophecy that had been recited to us over the years finally began to make sense. But, even then there was more than what meets the eye. I know of the details in the prophecy, and if we were to find these decedents of th Titans and release their powers. A war would break out between the Olympians and the Titans. It is a known fact that the Titans are more powerful than the Olympians though we are more deceitful. However, my sister and brother, who have now become my cousins believe that it is a chance worth taking.

And, so once again, my life has been altered and I am on the hunt for these half human descendants of Titans that could eventually be the end of my existence. I’m not sure if finding them would be as pleasant as dying as a human. .
