The Teachings of the Lost Auriel.
The Lost Auriel, currently asleep, awake in the dreaming world, walked to our Lord dreaming. He asked for teaching, for he was willing to learn, and it did not matter how long it took.
Lord Dream of the endless Dream is a noble, tragic hero, very much in the traditional style of heroes of Greek tragedy. He is sometimes slow, a little at sea when dealing with humor, occasionally insensitive and often self-obsessed. (As Mervyn Pumpkinhead remarks, when one of Morpheus' invariably disastrous romances ends, "He's gotta be the tragic figure standing out in the rain, mournin' the loss of his beloved. So down comes the rain, right on cue. In the meantime everybody gets dreams fulla existential angst and wakes up feeling like hell. And we all get wet." wink On the other hand, he is consistently aware of his responsibilities, both those to other people and those that go with his (for want of a better word) territory, which makes him both dependable and fair-minded. It is implied that before his imprisonment that begins the story arc he was in some ways crueller, and more blind to his flaws, and so it is perhaps his changing and moving forward that makes his character the way it is. He shares a close, reciprocal bond of dependence and trust with his elder sister, Death. He consistently strives for understanding, most particularly of himself and of the other Endless, but is ultimately defeated by his most tragic flaw, his inability to consciously change himself and to recognize and accept the change that inevitably occurs at an unconscious level. As Lucien remarks in The Wake when asked (by Matthew, the raven) "Why did it happen? Why did he let it happen?", "Charitably...I think...sometimes, perhaps, one must change or die. And in the end, there were, perhaps, limits to how much he could let himself change." Dream is shown as an all time serious person, but this is absolutely reverted, when Death begins to yell at him in "The sound of her wings" and calls him "The stupidest, most self-centered, appallingest excuse for an anthropomorphic personification in this or any other plane"
The studies of Dream:
the lost one made his way to the castle of our lord Morpheus, known commonly as Dream of the Endless. Our lord Dream and the Lost Auriel sat down together within the royal libary, overwatched by Kain and Abel. The given lessons of the dreaming realm, and it's purposes, the threading of the wishing realm and how it is tied into the world of the dreaming, and reality warping. The studies, which lasted over a decade (time holding a different effect within the endless dimentions for a second in the real world holds a hour or more), was ended by granting The lost one the ability or dream warping, and energy asorbing through the inact ability through the dream. Also, the grand take of warping the dreaming realm. At the end, Our lord Dream sent the lost one to his older sister Death, the harbinger of the reaper.
Death of the endless Death appears as an attractive, pale, young woman dressed in casual clothes - often a black top and jeans. She also wears a silver ankh on a chain around her neck. She is pleasant, down-to-earth, and perky and has been a nurturing figure for Sandman’s title character. This strange paradox has helped make Death one of the most popular. Death is the second eldest of the Endless, a family of anthropomorphic beings.
The Studies of Death: The Lost Auriel walked several miles outside the boundries of the Dreaming for days, months, even a year. The lost Auriel wandered for what seemed like a eternity untill he stopped. For forever, he understood. Death was not a dimention, but a understanding. Death followed everyone. With this realization, she appeared in front of him. A moment later, they were both in a small apartment. It seemed homey, with alot of cludder.
The studies of Death, along with some very good tea, was even more simplistic then most would ever know. The Lessons brought about self awareness, and understanding the limitations of the mortal being. The lessons, that lasted a few months, was completed by granting the ability of the soul eye, the ability to see one's soul, essence and spirit as clear as day. Also, the eye of the shinsengumi. The ability of soul gripping, taking ahold of one's soul, and giving the Lost one a ability to rip it from the body of a person, Dead or alive (but it will be alot harder if one is alive). Soul asorbsion can give Lost the ability to take ahold of the being, and allow him to implace his essense into the body of another. Finally, The death touch can kill a being with a single touch, but requires a massive amount of energy, and will knock out Auriel as well (For RP purposes, if it is used within battle, it takes 30 turns for it to be charged. If one is touched, even if ANY concience part of the enemy, the being will die. For instance: if a person lunges a shadow strike, and Auriel touches the shadow, due to it's psycic control it needs to be ustilized by the attacker, the person will die. If it is controled, by any means, the connection will fall into the atacker and die. Any where from turn 15 and 29, and Auriel desides to use it, the power blast will nearly kill the target. This attack can only be used once within a battle.). After the teachings, Death released the Lost one where he was, his same stance, his same clothing, his same breath. The lost Auriel was to return back to the realm of the dreaming, but the abstance from the path given him the unfortunite tale of forgetfulness. He walked in the direction he was facing.
After a while of walkng, he came upon a large statue of the most beautiful androgynous person he has ever seen. The person was, for a lack of a better word, beautiful. On the plaque, the words the lost read out loud was "Threshold". As a weird effect, the statue began to move, and grabbed the lost Auriel with such painful speed, he spit up blood. The statue slammed Lost into its chest, and The lost Auriel was gone.
Within the chest of the the statue, a beautiful person sat at a seat, staring with a evilish grin. After a moment, the beautiful one walked to Auriel, and introduced itself as Desire.
Desire of the endless Desire is the third youngest of the Endless and the twin of Despair. She-he is a strikingly beautiful figure whose gender is mutable, becoming male, female, both, or neither as the situation warrants. Desire blends in effortlessly with whatever environment she-he finds her-himself in. She-he lives in the heart of a massive statue of her-himself, known as the Threshold. Indeed, further strengthening the connection to hearts, Desire's sigil in the galleries of the other Endless is a heart of cut glass. Desire is easily the cruelest of the Endless. She-he seems obsessed with interfering with the affairs of her-his elder siblings, particularly Morpheus. The motivation behind this is not clear, but seems to be simply a variation on childish teasing. Desire is not exactly unaware of the consequences of her-his actions, but considers those consequences ultimately unimportant, a position which angers Morpheus and Death in particular. Desire sometimes act in concert with Despair; the relationship is not clear, however, and Desire is much more distant from her-his siblings than Despair. A more forgiving interpretation is that Desire reflects, simply, desire, and is as fickle and self-centered as the emotion. As desire is easily the most inflaming of emotions, Desire takes special delight in needling those who think they are beyond emotions altogether.
Desire's Actions: The conversation between Auriel and Desire was vicious, for Auriel cried for teaching, and Desire teased him and tortured him. Desire began to become annoyed and though of other things to do. With glowing hands, it gripped his arms. A kiss to the forehead, and Desire ripped his body apart. Desire then took a toy that was not there a moment ago, and kissed it, it coming to life. The face began to resemble Auriel. The lost one was within a new body, giving him the ability to gender switch, turning him into a male or female at wish, with correct body parts. The other power was suicide pheromone, making him near irresistible to either sex. For one to look at him, would be suddenly aroused to take him. The other is the wisper, which gives him the ability to wisper with a ecstasy inducing voice, giving the feeling of intoxication, and 'another' feeling.
The lost Auriel found this a very painless body, with little to no nerve endings, no breathing, nothing. His senses, however, were increased. It seemed that he did not want to be here anymore, for Desire was angry about the transaction. Auriel saw that Desire thought Auriel would stay as a 4' 10 stuffed animal, yet Auriel became animated and such. The body contained bones and such, but was still stitched. Auriel looked at his image deeply within the mirror, untill he saw a woman..... a fat short woman... his reflection was gone. He placed his hand on this mirror, only to pass though it with little to no resistance. He stepped through, Desire saw this and ran to grab him, only to meet with Desire's reflection, then breaking the mirror.
Auriel walked into the grey lifeless looking place, with rodents running foree. His eyes looked around, then followed his feet to the depressed looking Woman, and introducked himself as the lost Auriel. She replied in a gringy looking way, as she named her self Dispair.
Despair of the endless Despair is the twin sister of Desire. She is squat, flabby and pale-skinned, with black hair. She does not wear clothes. On a finger of her left hand she wears a ring with a hook attached to it, with which she habitually carves her flesh. The hook is her sigil in the galleries of the other characters. Her realm is a grey space in which floats a white fog and countless mirrors, which match mirrors in the human world, through which she looks on those who are in despair. The only inhabitants of her realm are her and her pet rats.
The teaching of Despair: He barely could speak to Despair before she pointed to a mirror. The mirror showed the back of Auriel, looking at the miror, showing the back of Auriel, looking at the mirror, showing the back of Aruel, looking at the mirror and so on. He stared for a moment, then realized. She saw his every move. He sat down in front of Despair, and the pair began talking. He taught him the pain of the hearts, the truth of saddening emotions, and the accursed life. The lesons lasted 5 years, granting him the ability to fill the minds of those he chose with massive sadness, dispair and/or dread. The ability cuses most to commit suicide. Also, the ability of Empathy, feeling and reading the emotions of others.
The lost Auriel fond himself being trown into a loop, forgetting so much, then a feeling like being flushed down a toilet. The essence of Auriel was ripped apart again. He found himself in hell, with his hand held by a redhead woman. For a moment, all was calm...
Delirum and Destruction Delirum: Delirium, known to some cultures within the mythos as Mania, is the youngest of the Endless. She is usually quite short, and thin. Her hair changes style and colour constantly, as do her clothes. Her shadow never reflects her shape, and is tangible, like velvet. She is said to smell of sweat, late nights, sour wine, and old leather. Her sigil in the galleries of the other characters is a multicoloured, abstract swirl. Her realm is a chaotic, constantly changing mass of colours and strange objects and shapes, and contains a sundial with the inscription "Tempus Frangit" ("time breaks," a Latin pun on the phrase "Tempus Fugit", "time flies".) Delirium travels with a "guardian" of sorts, a German Shepherd dog named Barnabas, on indefinite loan from her brother Destruction. Born Delight, she transformed into Delirium long before the advent of humanity, as seen in Endless Nights, a collection of stories about the Endless. Most of the time, she is scatterbrained; she often forgets the thread of her conversations, and comes out with offbeat and seemingly inconsequential observations. Todd Klein, the series' letterer, draws her speech as letters which do not quite match in height or line up neatly, against a multi-coloured background. Very occasionally she is able, with an effort, to become more controlled in thought and speech, at which point her speech is drawn more neatly and the background fades to white. The other Endless all seem to be fond of Delirium, to varying degrees, and protective of her. She in turn is affectionate towards them, particularly Destruction. Destruction: Destruction abandoned his realm and his responsibilities some time around the turn of the seventeenth century. He did not cease to exist as the active aspect of Destruction, he simply stopped directing the affairs over which he has control. As he says, destruction did not stop, it was merely no longer ordered and controlled. Destruction features most prominently in Brief Lives, in which his siblings Morpheus and Delirium set out to track him down. When they finally meet they do not exactly argue but talk at cross-purposes; Destruction's choice of path baffles and to some degree infuriates Morpheus, while Destruction finds it hard to comprehend Morpheus' position and concentrates on trying to impart to him some wisdom on the necessity of change and self-knowledge. Delirium just wants her brother back; she is reliant on her siblings for support, particularly her elder brothers. Destruction is self-obsessed in the most positive sense of that term; after giving up his responsibilities he concentrates instead on attempting to learn about his own nature and exert control over it. This is manifested in his deliberate attempt to subvert his own essential nature and create instead of destroying; he is shown at various points writing indifferent poetry, painting an indifferent picture, cooking a meal left untouched by those for whom it was intended, and brewing Greek coffee which Delirium fails to drink properly.
He became asorb within a world no one could ever know. As soon as it was seen...
...And so, she picked hm up onto his feet and spoke to him, knowing that he might not be funcionable for spending nearly 20 years with Delirum in her world, telling him of the book of destruction. She gave it to him, and sat him down on the bench. He sat there for years.... reading. He understood about the destruction of the world, and people's hearts. The book vanished, and entered his body. He was granted the ability to compress oxygen into a orb, and form the properties that into a explosion. He also was given the ability of Kinesis of the elements.
Death came back to him and took him from hell to a forest. This forest they walked hand to hand, untill Lost realized that he was alone all this time, that death was there in his mind. It was still some comfort, however. For a time he walked. How long has it been since he started this journey? Too long, Too long..... For a while it semed he did not know where he wanted to go, just an exit.... to go home... to his father Uriel and His mother Black.... He then saw a maze.
This maze he walked in without a resistance. His mind told him to turn where it would seem unlikely to turn, the twist, the turns, the maze... no....... this was a labyrynth. No matter what, he would never turn back. He would keep going. He walked on, and stepped on to a..... it seemed he stepped into space. For behind him was nothing but the galaxy. He was surrounded by space, and a marble walkway. He folowed the path to a robed man who held a book. The lost Auriel introduced himself as Auriel, as the omnious being introduced himself as Destiny.
Destiny of the Endless Destiny is the oldest of the Endless, and is portrayed as a tall figure, obscured within a brown (originally purple) robe and cowl. He reads from a large book chained to his right wrist, which contains all past, present, and future events. He does not leave footprints, nor does he cast a shadow. Destiny's realm is a garden, the maze-like paths of which he walks continually. His book is his sigil in the galleries of the other Endless. Destiny is blind, although this doesn't appear to hinder him, he is always calm, detached and sombre even in extreme situations. He is the least characterised and least used of the Endless in the series. Though he was first depicted in the series in a picture at the end of the first collection (in the penultimate issue), his first actual appearance is in the fourth collection, Season of Mists. In a quiet way he seems to direct the family affairs of the Endless; it is he who calls the family meeting that begins Season of Mists.
Auriel began to chat with the being known as Destiny. The being spoke many, many different things. Things of time, of the world, of everything. TDestany spoke of the useful, the useless, the wanted, the waste, the birds, the bees, the living, the dead, the gods, the demons. He spoke of everything, and everything's everything. And in detail. The meaning of life, the purpose of death. Auriel listen deeply, untill his mind broke. His head could not hold anymore. A eternity of knowledge was taught to him....
Auriel awoke in the bed of our lord Dreaming. He spoke to him as he started to awake. "As you walked to find yourself, you will walk as the endless. Teach all, fear none, live forever. Hear lies Devine of the endless."

A single flicker, and a few throbbing pulses within the shadows was all one would see to notify those of his presence.
If one had the ability to think, and hold memories, they would be pulled from their curent activity and start to witness a series of visions, a chain of memories. The feeling of one's mind would only be compared as if the body and spirit seperated. One would feel a sudden breeze of coldness on a naked body, followed by a array of warmth. The mind would no longer feel seperated, as one would now feel as if he himself was within the vision, and all senses would play within, and see a flash of a apple.
One would see a long field, stretched further than the mind could comprehand, further than the eyes could see. A series of mountains and hills, and roadless land deep within the horizion. The beautiful field was flush with the greenest of grass that felt like a fluff of a feather against the bare skin. One would also see the smallest of daffodils of a vibrant yellow, and forget-me-nots of beautiful blues and purples, grown inbetween blades of grass to give a connsumate feeling. The field gave off the aroma of spring in it's finest, and the crisp, fresh air would leave one to gorify such a place.
Within the center of this pulchritudinous land stood a statuesque weeping willow tree of towering heights. The tree stood 45 feet from the ground, with the trunk, a width of 20 ft from point to point. The perfect scene to a perfect image. To look to the left of this tree is to see a boy.
This boy who stood at 5' 4, although one would have a hard time seeing it due to the puerile figure sitting amongst the nature, and bright steel blue eyes of soul piercing and heart melting results, with skin of the moon's face, and hair of mercury. This child, wearing a clean black rag-torn shirt open to see a white t-shirt, and black wide leg denim pants, tied around white shoes with steel heels, tops and tips, was holding a bizzare staff of sorts. The is obscure object bared two thin black bars, that stood parrell to each other and connecting at either end, meeting with a single thicker bar imbedded with barb wire, forming into a cross shape. The center of this cross is a circular blade, and the bottom of this item is attached with a axe-style cresant moon scythe. The object stood 6' 7" long, and has a locking hook holster on the youths back.
Faintly, as one stared at the boy, one would began to see several individuals, six in total. The boy would pick up an apple and hold it out to the visionary. As one approached and took the apple, the person would feel a smile upon the assumed face. As one would take a bite of the apple, the boy would look sadden and turn his head, hair turning jet black, for the apple bled. The land would fall into nothing, and the bright sky would become asorbed by darkness, the ground was now a foged river, the screams of tortured individuals can be felt, if not heard. Pain would enter the heart of one, with nothing but saddness. As this vision continued, the tree that remained would seem to shift to the right, as the boy stood. He walked to the visionare, and placed his hand on where the heart should be, and said somthing to the person as the vision ended.
"Leave my curse..."
The Lost one. The one known as Auriel. The child Devine of the endless. These names represented this kid who appeared within the middle of the Lobby floor, with the shadows twirling around him. The kid had such a emotionless face.
The child who looked no older then 14, with pure white hair, white blue greyish eyes, a weird 4ft. cross-like harp staff and doll stitching all over his body took his steps within the place, yet no sound could be ever heard as he walked. Not even a ruffle, or a shift in clothing. It is as someone hit the mute button. Upon further inspection, he casted no shadow. Not a shadow of any kind. If someone, no matter the sex, was to look at him, they would feel either a craving for sexual desires, or a parent-child love for him. Also, they might feel a sibling love for The Lost Auriel. If there was any empaths in the room, they would feel the screams and pain of a million men, women, and childern in despair. The feeling would be very overwelming, almost suicidal. If one was to look into his mind, one would feel confused, and then, becoe delirious. The feeling would be that if every brain cell commited suicide. The feeling matches, for that is what would happen. The child was defended by all the endless, the lessons and abilities, wrapped into this one child. This was no longer the Auriel others knew.
