Hiraya's Traditional Art Shop
I'm Hiraya, and this journal will serve as a log on how I will (hopefully) improve on my art by sharing my art to others here on Gaia.
Art Shop Opening and First Batch of Orders
I have recently got back on Gaia again after several years of absence. I made an entirely new account and was pleasantly surprised of all the new things to be explored: new items, new games, new guilds - it is truly an entirely new experience.

Naturally, I made an Avi plan:

And of course, a lot of them were expensive.

So now the challenge is this: How would I earn Gaia money without spending real money?

Coincidentally, I also want to improve on my art this year, so I came up with the idea of putting up an art shop. Not the most original idea, I know.

So I went ahead and made the thread. Snapped a few pictures of my most recent works and crossed my fingers hard.

I was so scared that my ship would sink before it even manages to sail away from port! But, much to my delight, three people filled out my first batch of orders.

And below is a log of this week's creative process.

Side note: My introduction next time won't be too long. I just had to start somewhere, right?

Anyway, after getting the orders, I planned the images first, in small thumbnails. Every time I illustrate or create anything, I always make it a point to add a little bit of something which would make an image special. And because the characters ordered form me where already special on their own, I didn't have to think too hard to come up with ideas to "play" with them.

So here's what I came up with:

1. The blood bender would hold a few drops of blood mid-air.
2. The mob boss' wife portrait would be in an ornate gold frame.
3. And finally, the angelic/bird-human warrior should have a fierce yet pensive look because the description, after all, was "curious or inquisitive". Honestly, getting his look was the most difficult part for me. I'm not that good in drawing male faces yet, you see, which is also why I need to suck it up and practice.

After a few days of mulling over my ideas, I started the preliminary sketches.

And finally, another couple of days, I finished everything. The media I used were acrylic paint, watercolor, sea water, colored pencils, and pens.

Here are the thumbnails to the final pieces. Thank you so much for trusting me with your valued characters. I hope I didn't let you down! heart heart heart
