Information About Chemical Metering Pumps
Metering pumps operate on a positive displacement mechanism to pump chemical liquids to where they are required. The pump can be manual or automatic depending on your choice. oil metering pump have a high repetitive accuracy and can be used to pump a wide variety of chemicals, such as acids, slurries, abrasive and corrosive liquids as well.

How they Work

The operation of the pump is aided by a reciprocating piston. Some pistons are protected from the fluid by the help of a diaphragm while others have a direct contact with the liquid being pumped. The hydraulic fluid between the reciprocating piston and the diaphragm actuates the diaphragm. Metering pumps can be used in one of the following conditions:

Where the required flow rates in mL/hr or GPH are low

High system pressure

Where dosing is programmed and controlled by a microprocessor or a computer

Where corrosive, abrasive, or high pressure liquids are to be pumped

When slurries need to be pumped

Generally, chemical metering are preferred wherever the liquids to be pumped are supposed to be pumped under high pressure with the highest degree of accuracy and precision. In addition, the duration and the speed at which the fluids are to be pumped are critical aspects on which the metering pumps operate.

Types of Metering Pumps

You can find different types of Chemical metering pumps in the market. Pumps can be classified according to the chemical feed technology or the pump drive.

Classification according to feed technology

Peristaltic pumps

Mechanically actuated diaphragm metering pumps

Plunger metering pumps

Hydraulically actuated diaphragm metering pumps

Classification of metering pumps according to the pump drive

Solenoid-driven metering pumps

Air operated metering pumps

Motor-driven metering pumps

How Metering Pumps Function

Metering pumps, also known as reciprocating positive displacement pumps are used to pull the fluid using a back stroke mechanism and discharge the fluid with the pressure stroke. You can regulate the metering capacity of the methanol pumps. You can do this by adjusting the stroke volume and the stroke per unit time. For you to achieve a constant metering is achieved by setting the adjustments correctly so that the volume and the speeds remain constant even at different backpressures.

Technology Used

Presently, technology is being used to develop highly innovative metering pumps that can deliver to the expectations of the clients. One of the best technologies being used in large scale operations is the microprocessor technology. With multi-functional controls and numerous other components, microprocessor technology can guarantee operational safety, accuracy and precision. An important aspect about microprocessor technology is that chemicals can be reduced significantly to the lowest possible levels. Integrating your metering pump into an automated process requires that your manufacture possess expertise in machine operations. The other benefit of microprocessor technology is that it allows you to operate your pump using standard signals available without having to require transforming devices.
