I took careful steps, avoiding anything that looked suspicious. She was here, hidden in the depth of these woods, watching my every move. I stayed alert, afraid to let my guard down. She was waiting for the right moment to attack. A branch snapped behind me. I whipped around, holding the blade up high, ready to strike. How foolish was I to walk into these woods, to walk into death. I knew this blade wouldn’t even leave a scratch on the creature I was up against, but just holding it in my hand was comforting.
A cold white hand gripped my right shoulder. I swung around and slashed the blade against her stone hard arm, knowing it was pointless. She jumped back at the sudden movement. Her piercing red eyes gazed deeply into mine. I shuddered. She smiled in a friendly way as she slowly sauntered forward to kill me.
