My Post Very good question.
First Statement to your post: The religion didn't make the war, nor are they ones who cause such things. However the human race, can't help but put something 'greater' to why they are doing things. Such as 'in the name of so-so faith', no matter what the 'war' is at the time. The ideal way of dealing with such things would be peaceful matters, in which almost all religions 'claim' but no one seemly follows. So the question becomes, if they weren't doing it for religion, what else would there be for them? Their race, their age, their 'style', music, books, all of these things would then come into play with it.
Second State to your post: Is religion good, I believe that the answer is yes. The ideal of it is in fact very good, to be loving, caring, respectful, forgiving, understanding. It helps deal with the bigger questions, such as "where do we go when we die?" "why are we here?" "is there something greater out there?" it helps with these questions as well as bring forth hope to people who really need it. The ideal of is then good.
However because of the human race, we take those things and turn them around to use it for our 'own means' for whatever means that may be. Everyone does it and very few people if anyone really does the things that they should be doing according to their religions. At least the morals that those faiths bring forths.
