Badminton Tournament
Well, yesterday on March 24th, there was a badminton tournament in Pembroke which I went to. I placed 1st in U-16 boys singles and 2nd in boys doubles. I went with my 2 friends, Thomas and Jessica. On the way there, we were sitting in the back of the car discussing what we thought the tournament was going to be like. We were all nervous lol.

On my very first game there, my racquet strings had broke. I kinda figured that would happen, but I didn't know that they would break so soon..especially on the very first game! Luckily, there was another player watchomg us who loaned me his racuquet. I owe him.

Luckily, one of my other friends had brought sevral back-up racquets, so I played with it. It was the exact duplicate of my racquet, except that it had different coloured strings. (it was black..ugh..

I ended up beating everyone in my pool, and then advanced to the semi- final rounds. My friend Thomas made it there. I really felt glad for him

So, Thomas and I played our next games which would decide who would play in the final round. I beat my opponent 15-3 and Thomas beat his 15-6. Thomas and I played the final game, and I ended up winning, but I congrgulated him for making it that far smile He usually doesn't in most tournaments.

Alot of the people there knew me from other tournaments which I placed first in singles. I love singles. Hate doubles lol. Whenever I was against someone who knew me, they would always get really nervous. This I don't really know why, since I hate being called a "legend". I don't like people always pointing at me and saying to thier friend: "hey, its that kid that won the tourny last year! omg..he sounds really good.."

You know, that sort of thing. It REALLY annoys me, because I just want to think of myself as just a normal badminton player, not some "legend"

In the doubles, Thomas and I were together. We placed 2nd in our division. Good games Thomas!

For mixed doubles (guy and girl), I was put with a girl from Pembroke named Amy Lair..kinda wierd name if you ask me lol. She was an alright player, but she tended to not take the game seriously. For example, whenever she missed, she would do like a screech laugh, which kinda got me ticked. She was nice though, and we soon got used to each other lol. We came 3rd in our division.

After the tournament, medals were awarded. I got the medal for U-16 singles, and many other people from my town were awarded medals for 1st and 2nd in doubles and mixed doubles. It was a great time.
