Random List Number 2: Some of my Favorite Twilight Zone Episodes.
Ahh, the Twilight Zone, the only classic TV I like to watch. I’m guessing its one of my favorites mostly for the reason that I’m suck a sucker for twist endings, and most Twilight Zone episodes have twist endings, or, if they don’t are just overall creepy enough to get by without one. Anyway, not every episode is great, but so many are so classic everyone’s heard of them. Here are some of my favorites: (In no particular order)
“Willoughby”
A stressed out business man on a train dreams of simply stepping off the train at a quiet, peaceful little town in the 1800s.
“The Monsters are Due on Maple Street”
Very classic, great social commentary.
“People are Alike All Over”
Always beware the friendly aliens.
“Eye of the Beholder”
A young woman’s face is wrapped in bandages after a severe auto accident. When the bandages are taken off, the doctors are horrified by what they see.
“A Most Unusual Camera”
Partially for sheer sillyness.
“You mean this camera takes pictures of the future? No f’ing way, there’s only two bodies laying down therAHHHHHHHHHH! (paraphrasing)
“The Invaders”
One of the best ever.
An old woman living alone finds her house under attack by tiny invaders from outer space.
“It’s a Good Life”
The lives of everyone living in small town are under the complete control of a monster.
I liked the Simpson’s parody episode of this episode.
I also believe this was made into a movie at some point.
“The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank”
A group of simple hillbillies in a small town are about to bury a dearly departed young man….when he rises from the grave. DUN DUN DUUUUN! After acting in some ways the townsfolk consider unusual for Jeff Myrtlebank, they accuse him of being some sort of “demonic spirit” and eventually try and drive him out of town. He manages to convince them to leave him alone, though, and as they walk away, he just smiles and lights his cigarette with his fingers.
“To Serve Man”
If you don’t know what the book “To Serve Man” is by now, you must be living your days in a hole without any access to pop culture.
“Number 12 Looks Just Like You”
There is an entire series of books called “Uglies” based off this episode.
“Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”
“There’s………something on the wing!”
Also good Simpson’s parody “Nightmare at 2 ½ feet.”
