Ah Melinda... I hate her... she's been a stuck-up-snob for as long as I can remember. Although she is 2 years older than me she has a taste for younger guys. (Eww!) Her perfect candidate would be a fifteen year old boy with dark hair and a mysterious aura. Remind you of anyone? Well if it's not ringing any bells how about I just tell you: Dale.
It was Monday and of course children in this world go to school. The schools here are poorer with little or no money for books yet Melinda's father is a bookbinder and he spends time making small notebooks for us. Melinda's father is a widower and her mother was like an angel except without the immortality. Sadly her sickness got the best of her and she died when Melinda was ten and I was eight. It makes me wonder how such good parents could breed a daughter made of evil and sin... okay maybe I am exaggerating but I really do despise her. Oh back to the story already.
"Dale wait for me!" I screamed (He had a tendency to walk fast) "My goodness Dale if you walk any faster I'm gonna have to run to keep up with you" Dale smirked, "Sorry", he said apologetically "I'm just so use to getting a running start when I fly and I fly most of the time so I'm used to walking fast." Then she came, waltzing up to Dale swaying her hips as if to seduce him... too bad it didn't work. "Hello Dale", she purred. "um.... Hey Melinda", Dale said confused. "Hi Melinda", I said in fake happiness, "So great to see you!" Dale suppressed his smile but he failed. He laughed right in Melinda's face. "What could possibly be so funny Dale? Did Tracey say something amusing?" I glared "It's Tommi" I corrected. "Who cares?" she said in her purry voice. "Dale", she said looking into his eyes "don't forget my father's a bookbinder and with the money he makes from the school I'm not as much of a peasant as some of the girls here" Dale stared with a puzzled look. Then she did it... the action that made me blow my top... I swear if we weren't in school I would have killed her. She pulled Dale close and planted her lipstick covered lips right on Dale's mouth. That was the limit for him. He played along and "pretended" to make out with her. I was furious... yet all I could do was stare. Then Melinda screamed and blood poured from her mouth. She removed herself from Dale, held her mouth and looked at him. He did his evil little smirk and slowly licked the blood off his lips. "Nice try Melinda. You're a good kisser... too bad my canines got in the way. You should listen to your father, never kiss a vampire unless you are a vampire." Melinda stared, I stared, Random people in the hallway stared. Dale's eyes turned green and he turned to face the people in the hallway, "Unless you dunderheads are asking for a death wish, I'd keep walking and pretend I didn't see anything." Melinda stood there looking at Dale and the cut in her lip was starting to heal. Dale looked angry, "What?" he asked annoyed. She was terrified so she ran to the bathroom to wash her lip. I walked over to Dale and whispered, "will she turn into a vampire, and will you guys go out now that you've bitten her" He turned to me and smiled content with himself, "that my friend only happens on a full moon" and he walked off to class.
