Chapter 5

Once everything was said and done I went back to the library. I looked for books on Dwarves, remembering that they were usually evil. I walked to the window again but saw a person were a hooded cloak it looked up at me with purple eyes. He let down his hood and reviled his blond hair. He was the one in my dream about Darrell. He held out his hand showing a eagle biting a horse. I stared at it and saw the horse start to transform into a Wyrt and killed the eagle. He teleported right behind me and grabbed my arm. He teleported me to Mike’s room. Mike was sleeping soundly and didn’t even do anything when he lowered Mike’s collar. I looked at the tattoo on Mike’s neck and it was the same as the Darrell look a like. It moved just like the other one did when I looked at it. Mike began to wake up and the Darrell teleported me to my room. He looked at me for a very long time then finally I heard in my head. Hello Breanna.
“Why don’t you talk,” I asked out loud I can’t. Just listen, you saw that tattoo he’s evil you can’t trust him, almost all of the people in this castle have those tattoos. I have it only because I used to be one of them. Come join us we can help you, just become one of us.
“No,” I said. Join us or die.
“I chose death then, no one can make me join evil,” I shouted at him. You already have. Why don’t you come with me, back to where you started this adventure. He grabbed me and about to jump out the window when we heard footsteps. He disappeared and Mike came in.
“Was someone here,” he asked.
“No, nothing to get worried about. I was just coming to my room,” I said tiredly.
“Alright, sleep safely,” he said and walked back out the door. I went and got into bed, I slept once I turned off the light.
The next month was like the first day. I very slowly got better in archery and quickly got better in sword fighting. I finished all my classes and finished my test for my spells, and I had made new friends. On the last day of training I fought Gerry. By the end we were cover in bruises and cuts. Gerry won but only because his blow came in the nick of time. He congratulated me for ending training. Mike congratulated me for ending my test and classes by giving me new mithril armor. After a great feast the King told me and James to meet him by the water fountains. I put all my armor in a chest and came back down meeting James on the way. I followed him to the fountains. It was outside in the back, the King was waiting by the last fountain. We walked over to him and he showed me a picture of the Queen.
“Familiar right,” the King said.
“Yeah, she looks like my mom,” I told him.
“She is,” the King sighed. James and I looked at him surprised.
“When the Queen was about to die she said she would go to the other world and make a family there. She said if the world was in need to get the child she had,” the King looked down at James, “Breanna is your half sister.” James didn’t seem to be taking it in because he still looked very surprised.
“One thing doesn’t make sense,” I asked, “if mom was a half elf why am I half elf shouldn’t I be ¼ elf.”
“When a half elf marries a human their children are half elves it’s something to do with human genes,” the King said.
“How come you never told me,” James asked in a quiet voice.
“She told me when the lost princess were to arrive she would carry a sword handle with her birthstone. No one came here with it so I didn’t know if she had the child yet,” he said looking at me, “when you’re in the human world there is no way to connect with the elves. Usually a person has dreams of it when they’re about to come.”
“So how is ol’ mom doing,” James asking looking very cheerful.
“Very fine she’s good and well,” I said trying not to rain on his parade. James went back in the castle and when I started to follow him the King grabbed my arm.
“I know that isn’t true,” he said, “You can’t hide him from the truth, he will find out.” The king looked serious and sad.
“C’mon Breanna let’s sleep we go to Derferan tomorrow,” James yelled from the castle. I escaped from the Kings grasp and ran up to him. We went inside and went to sleep. The next day everyone was waiting for me in the hall. Gerry gave me my sword handle.
“To use it you just have to be near an enemy, the sword knows who is friend or foe,” he said. I held it, it fit perfectly into my hand and it wasn’t heavy either. I swung it around pretending it had a blade and it seemed good enough to fight with. The King came in wear a gold crown studied with diamonds of every color. He had his arms folded with his hands in the sleeves.
“Breanna the human, you have proved your strength and skill of magic. You have proved to everyone, the lower, same, and even your higher classes. You have now became eligible to be a knight of the royal order.” the king said. He took my sword and rubbed the handle and the sword appeared. I kneeled down in front of him and the King held the sword by the handle.
“Madam Breanna do thee accept these task and any task thy may have in the future, if thee do say aye,” he said in medieval tongue. I thought for a long minute and decided.
“Aye,” I said, he put his blade on both of my shoulders and I got up. He handed me my sword.
“Breanna the knight, welcome to the court of royalty,” he said. Once I touched the sword the blade disappeared. Gerry patted me on my back smiling, Mike gave me the thumbs up and everyone else congratulated me. I had become part off the court I was so happy. The news quickly spread and soon everyone knew about me. This was bad because even the evil knew which could help them. We started our journey by going to Mitega to get supplies and food. The king said it was a two day horse ride. We went to a stable. I knew how to ride regular horse but unicorns were another story.
“So what do I say,” I asked.
“Giddy up,” Mike said. I got on the unicorn and whispered giddy up in its ear. The unicorn didn’t move one inch it just looked out itching to run outside. I said it a couple of times after everyone had gotten their unicorns to go I gave up.
“It’s not working,” I moaned, “How do I get it to go.” Just as I said go it ran and I was holding the reins. I fell off the unicorn but I managed to grab one of its legs. I pulled my way up the unicorn and got a hold of the reins. While the unicorn ran everything was a blur. In the background I heard Gerry say something. My unicorn ran up a mountain and reared up; she came back down and started to trot then slowly went back to running. It kept me a bit ahead of the others but the other unicorns were just as fast. By nightfall we made it farther then I expected. We were already a bit past the gate that leads you out of Santra. I lay down on my back looking at the stars. Thor and Mike sat next to me.
“Why did the king say it would take two days, it’s only been one,” I asked still looking at the sky.
“The king has a unicorn that’s as slow as a horse,” Mike said grinning,” still fast but way slower then a regular unicorn. His unicorn is too old but it hasn’t mated and had a baby so he’s stuck with that.”
“That be true,” Thor said.
“Why is he stuck with that horse,” I got up and asked.
“The very first unicorn was the Kings,” Mike explained, “The horse the king has is what you would call a family heirloom. Unless it gives birth which is unlikely because it’s a boy. But if it were to find a mate that would work and he could ride that young calf that was the son or daughter of the unicorn he has.”
“That be the way,” Thor said.
“Is my unicorn a boy or a girl,” I asked. Thor walked away examined my unicorn and came back over.
“It be a girl it is,” Thor said. Gerry was unpacking the tents and blankets along with Dareena. He dropped one and it began to go down the hill.
“My tent,” Gerry shouted. I tried to grab it but it escaped my grasp. I ran down the hill chasing it along with Dareena and James. I lost my balance and fell the rest of the way down the hill. I landed on the ground with scars all over my legs. I got up and my head started to hurt. James came and then Dareena. Everything turned blurry and I started to collapse, James caught me.
“Are you all right,” Dareena asked. She felt my head, then she franticly ran and got the tent that fell. James put me on the ground. After that my backgrounds became black, but I felt James hold my hand.
I woke up with a start, and my head ached. I saw Gerry and James staring at me. Gerry was putting a cold towel on my head.
“Don’t make sudden moves,” James said.
“You were scryed,” Gerry told me, “James was able to make the person doing the scrying go away but not the pain.”
“Why is there pain, in all the books I read there usually is no pain,” I asked wincing.
“It wasn’t just scrying it was also trying to do a death spell,” James said. I sat up and my head hurt really bad.
“I said don’t make sudden moves didn’t I,” James said.
“So why didn’t I die,” I asked.
“There is a simple incantation, the Revise spell,” Gerry said, “It goes:
Now listen you now listen well I will reverse your spell
Everyone shall see you be me once it reverses I will be okedokey.”
“What’s with the last word,” I asked.
“Don’t blame me the creator of the spell did it. I wanted to change it but nooo he wouldn’t let me,” Gerry said rolling his eyes.
“I thought you were only 20,” I asked.
“Well, well you see….,” he mumbled. James smacked his head and whispered idiot. Dareena came in with a cheery smile.
“4:30 and all is well we need to get going soon,” she happily said. James got up and called for Mike and Thor. Thor waited outside with the horses. Mike came in with a positive attitude as always. I got up slowly and went outside.
“If needed, me have padding on the horse’s back if yee are to blackout,” Thor said as I got on. We went on out way to the Mitega gate; I noticed a loud crash when we got to the gate.
“What was that,” I asked.
“Just that ol’ son of a gun Tom, always dropping stuff. This is the hundredth time he dropped it,” the gatekeeper said, “state your name and business.”
“Keepers of the King’s court and to get some supplies,” Mike said.
“The King’s court well you can just go ahead,” he said opening the gate. As I walked in all the food of the market blended together. A wonderful aroma of food, boy was I hungry.
“Here,” Gerry said handing me a couple of gold and silver coins, “Shop to your hearts content.” I got off the horse and went straight to a restaurant and ate till my stomach was bursting out full. I went and down and empty alley near the gate. I saw a guy coming from the back door he was wearing a hooded jacket. He saw me and pulled back his hood.
“Kara,” he said. He had long blonde hair that went below his neck; the bangs in front of his face didn’t hide the scar on his left cheek. He had deep soothing violet eyes with pale skin.
“Kara? Who’s that, “I asked curious?
“Why, you can’t even remember your own name my dear friend,” He smiled.
“My name’s Breanna. You mistook me for someone else,” I said. His smile faded away, replaced by a sneer.
“Glad to see you dear princess,” he said in a hostile voice. He unsheathed his concealed sword. Pointing it exactly straight, I didn’t have a weapon I had left it with Mike.
“Now, now let’s be civilized,” I said. He slashed at me, and I ducked just in time. I did an invisibility spell and began to run away. He tripped me with his sword.
“I can see the invisible, “he said with a sneer again, “If you don’t want to fight I can just kill you know. Of course the chase is just so much more fun.” I tried to reach someone with my mind but most of the people had sealed minds or weren’t very strong. I tried to reach my companions but they were farther then one mile away. I heard something in the distance, so did he. He turned his head, then I quickly ran from him. The noise turned out to be a little animal. I picked it up and continued on my way. I ran into a guy with red hair.
“Come on out little princess,” the blonde haired man said. A man with red hair covered my mouth putting a finger over his mouth for quiet. He pulled me into a burned house.
“Hide here,” he whispered. I hid behind a half charred brick wall while he looked around for the guy. While he was gone the animal in my hand bit me scurried away. He joined me after a moment.
“Names Tom what’s yours,” he asked quietly.
“Breanna Othello,” I answered, Tom seemed to sit straighter when I mentioned my name. We stayed there for a couple of minutes then he got up.
“Coast’s clear,” Tom said as he took my hand, pulled me up and kissed my hand lightly.
“My princess I will gladly take you to the proper royal company of yours. IF you need it of course,” Tom said.
“Sure, I guess, if you want to,” I replied.
“It would be my pleasure, m’lady,” Tom said taking my hand.
