Contest... Test Entry (not finished)
APPLICATION FORM
  • Name: Genma
  • Gender: Male
  • Mythbase: Sun Wukong - Journey to the West (Monkey King)
  • Link to a source on the mythbase: Wikipedia.org || Internationalsuperhero.co.uk || China-on-Site.com
  • Link to Fae quest thread: Fa'e Quest Thread
  • Appearance: Black fur throughout his body, crimson red eys (thick eyebrows), prehensile monkey tail.
  • Powers:
-Genma has physical abilities that surpass those of an olympic level gymnast. His bone structure allows him great flexibility. He can remain in a crouched position for a long time and perform contortionist-type feats without causing any damage to his spine with that he has enhanced reflexes. However in spite of all this, they do not reach superhuman levels.

-He has a prehensile tail, allowing him to grab onto objects with relative ease. His tail is strong enough to not only to support his body weight, but also lift an adult male completely off the ground, and is deft enough to fight with as a blunt object.

-He is able to use clumps of his hair in the form of tiny throwing needles. Being able to throw multiple at a time to trap or paralyze his target.

  • Personality: Outspoken, confident, spontaneous and unpredictable. These are things that make up Genma's outward personality. Flaunting what he has is what makes Genma so outgoing, wanting to show those around him how well he's achieved something new. He's almost like a child in the way he reacts to new things or in discovering something about himself. With his natural agility he can be found bouncing around throwing his form of "cheer" throughout. While he may have a boyish charm; he isn't without his flaws. Tending to shy away when someone is trying to get too close to him. He hates to stop and think more about himself and who he is... bringing to life many insecurities that he'd rather leave at the door. He's quite sensative under all that bravado but blocks the pain with his flamboyant nature. Yet even so, once the dam of emotional baggage has been broken, he can turn quite violent; prone to unexpected outbursts over the tiniest of things. Its not to say he'd go on a rampage but he could cause quite a dramatic show when something doesn't sit well with him. He's just too insecure about himself that he's yet to face his biggest fear...

  • How does the characters personality, appearance and powers and your character relate back to your chosen mythos?
-Genma's powers in his past life are too god-mode for his new life in the Fa'e community. Knowing this I had to tone him down to a believable state without straying too much away from his mythos. Such is his natural agaility (being a monkey) his flexability and use of his tail which are all natural yet slightly enhanced only due to his magical base. While he can easily learn more later I wanted to start him with the basics. The use of his hair was part of his ability in the past but not a major focus. Making it the focus of his abilities now seemed interesting and I wanted to move him slightly away from the obvious use of a weapon: the wishing staff.

-His looks are that of a monkey, I figure why mess with a good thing? The only difference is his black fur rather than the usual brown that would often be choosen. His having a prehensile tail allows him to use it as a blunt object and wrap it around other things to hang about (part of his abilities and not overly fancy). His red eyes are just a tie in with his once red eyes that could see through illusions; he cannot use them like that right now (maybe later), but it worked especially well with his shaggy thick eyebrows.

-Genma's personality is a rainbow of different emotions. With his past life he seemed to have one drive, that was being the best. In his new life he's been humbled by his life in poverty and the ridicule that his father and family have suffered through. Taking these two things into account, he's still quite adventurous and lively but there are many real-world issues that can bring him down to earth. And taking into account the reason behind his death, he doesn't want to get too close to anyone in hopes the same does not happen again (though he's not aware of it obviously, its something imbred into his subconscious mind).
  • History: Sun Wukong was born of indistructable rock molded by the weather of the Mountain of Fruit and Flowers, bursting forth with a great declaration; Wukong set up his kingdom on Earth after going through the Water Curtain on a dare. Assuming the role of Monkey King, he dared to challenge the likes of those within the sea. Bullying his way past the Dragons of the Ocean and claiming his weapon and removing his name and all his kin from the Monkey File; rendering them immortal. Still he was unsatisfied and wanted more... heaven however did not want such a lifely soul running amuck in the world. Sending their soldier forth to dispatch of Wukong proved to be futile as he made his way to heaven demanding the title "the Great Sage Equal to Heaven". Assuming this title though not the job that goes with it, the Jade Emperor obligued, giving him over to the stables to tend the horses. Wukong soon found out that he was being fooled and lashed out, wrecking havoc in heaven. There he was comforted by Buddha who challenged him, in so doing Wukong failed and was imprisoned for 500 years in rock and stone. There he would meet a group of travellers that would change his life and ultimately he would make a sacrifice worthy of a second chance.

In this second change, Wukong, now known as Genma was found in the depths of a mountain by a wandering circus preformer named Jakes. Having lost his wife and his unborn child, Jakes found a kindred spirit in the strange child and gave him the name his child would have assumed. Raising the boy as his own, Genma would go through many life lessons. Of them being ridicule from the very family he grew up with. His odd appearance was thought to be a bad omen, as they were often hunted and murdered for being different. Even so, Jakes was there to diter such harsh words and actions reminding his kin that they suffer the same as Genma for his appearance. Slowly Genma and his travelling family learned to find common ground where they didnt' harp on his looks or blame him for the harsh reality they lived in. Genma has since been an important part of the family and their travelling circus act where he is the trapeze and acrobatics artist, flitting about in his oftentimes carefree nature.
  • Guardian: Jakes has been apart of the Gypsy nation his whole life. Growing up in a world that hated his kind, Jakes learned first hand what it was like to be different. Even so he didn't let such ridicule harden him against the world. Married once
  • World: On the world of Artisian, a world born of artistically inclined folk. More widely known are the Gypsy people whom are known for their talents
