Chapter 6

When the trio reach the entrance of the cave, the found the old man gasping his last few breathes. He told the group, "Please take me outside, I want to show you something before I die." The group followed his instructions that lead them outside were they noticed something terribly odd. The people that were lining up to thank them were gone and the town seem quit and run down. The old man directed them toward a huge graveyard outside of town. While walking up through the massive graveyard it seemed as if the whole town's worth of tomestones. Some grave were only marked by some stickes in the ground.
The old man started to spin another tale, "A number of years ago this village was hit hard by a plaige that killed almost everyone in the village. One the of the heros of light were devistated because they already saved the world from darkness, but could save this village from an unrelated desaster. So he used the power of the earth crystal to give the people new bodies. However, the crystal didn't approve of this use of its powers, perhaps because the was a peice of nature defying itself. Between the over abundence of light and the abuse of the crystals, a horible backlash will soon follow. The hero though he was doing the right thing and so did I, but now I'm not so sure. I burried almost everyone I know I here, but this is a lie and the crystal even kept me between life and death, a place were I am unable to die and rest in piece. I fear simular tragities are linked with the other crystals. Please go south to Icile, the fire crystal should be there. Farwell and thank you."
The old man died there as if he held on to tell them his message. The trio burned him and tried to make a decent marker for the grave, but no one knew much about tomestone craft so they did the best they could and headed for Icile to the south.
