Hola, friends. I've now been in The Gambia for five days! Hope you're not missing me too much. xD Well, when our plane FINALLY took off, it was a really amazing experience, being my first time (that I can remember) flying. Then, we landed. The airport, dispite being in a poorer place than London, was better than Gapwick. We got a coach to our hotel (after tipping the boy who helped us with our luggage, the driver and the other guy who helped us get our luggage on the coach) and had breakfast. The bacon wasn't very nice, since they had hard white bits in it, presumibaly fat, but the rest was very nice. And the "pork" sausages tasted like beef. xD Then, we chose the excursions we would do while in the Gambia. We chose fishing for the next day, camel riding after that, and lots of other things. Of course it's all changed now, since most of them were the same thing at different times, or one thing would arrive back at the hotel at eleven pm, and the next trip was four am the following day. The creek fishing was enjoyable. Our guide, Dodoe (means Darling, which is what he insisted we call him xD) was very helpful. He had a camera like mine, except automatic. He was asking if I had any spare film, which I said I hadn't at the moment in time (Which was the truth) Later, my dad gave him some film, though, which was alright (Presumibaly, film is hard to get in Gambia, and probably expensive) I caught three silverback fish things, two butterfish, and a lady fish. My dad caught a dozen small fishes, and one medium tuna thing. Someone caught a big angel fish, and Dodoe(Pronounced "Doodoo" xD) caught a couple of large frog fish. No barracuda though. The next day, we overslept, and I missed the camel ride, but we had an enjoyable time staying around the hotel. Then...tuesday, my parents went on a five O'clock bird watching trip. I didn't go, simply because of the time. Then we stayed at the hotel again, having another restful day. Yesterday, we had a 4X4 trip around a bit of the Gambai. We went to a school, a family house, a pump well, and also through a very crowded market. It was fun on the beach though, travelling in a huge truck that looks like it used to carry cattle.xD Today, my parents went to Banjul, but I stayed behind with an upset stomach, which soon past. They said how the older children were trying to sell them sweets to give to the young ones, and how the sewer ran openly through a market street, and 8unhappy crocidiles. sad Ah well. Tomorrow is a trip to South Gambia. xD So far, I have a small wooden hippo for Henry (Sorry, they told me off when I tried to take a live one back into the hotel), a drum for myself, a mask for my brother, a shirt my dad bought (Very...cultural) and some other odds and ends. Couldn't find any ethiopiands, because it's not Ethiopia. xD
Over and Out.
