Character Analysis
Katherine Kirkstone
10/09/06
Vanin, Alicia

The name of this amazing book is Treason, and it is by the stunning Geoffrey Trease. Cheerfully, this amazing character analysis is about the feisty heroin in the riveting story; Katherine Kirkstone. In this book she had become a very round character, even though she was a little bit static. Sadly, she is not the narrator in this book, nor is she the main protagonist. But she is a protagonist through and through. This character is most definitely extremely impudent, a Tom boy the max, and a very, very, very innovative child.
Katherine was indeed an extreme nuisance and an impudent nuisance at that. It was frustrating that when she and Peter were captured by the red haired men, Peter told her to run and what did she do? She swung her horse around and practically flew her mount toward the attackers, and they both were captured. Who in the Elizabethan era, the golden age; would dare to sauce off to the leader of the country? Katherine, would, could, and did. It was even more surprising that she did not receive trouble from it. Lastly, the queen not only said that her “gallivanting about the country on stolen horses dressed as a boy!” was scandalous, but she also called her Miss. Impudence. Who could have seen that one coming?
You may ask; what makes her a tomboy? There are several key facts of proof to back up this “Tom boy” statement. Surprisingly, Katherine had, in-fact told Peter that she did not want him to be courteous and polite, that, to keep her cover he had to bully her and act like she was the boy she would never ever truly achieve in being. Katherine’s manly nagging was incessant, and on several occasions she told her companions that they had ought to know by know that she could rough it as well as any of the boys. Finally, in a burst of rebellion she quoted the vital Queen Elizabeth saying that “I may have the weak body of a girl, but I have the stomach and heart of a man,”
For the racially prejudiced era that Katherine lived in she was quite the innovative little vixen. She wanted to run her own household and life. Whilst all the wild boys and strong men were out earning lots of helpful pounds of money in the acting industry, she masqueraded herself as a young man and joined them. After all “it is absolutely old-fashioned.” She truly did think that all able-bodied women should have been allowed to act forevermore. Moreover, she thought that a man taking control of any her stuff was repulsive.
In conclusion I think that my character was exceptionally important and that, if she was cast out into our modern world that she would be very adaptive, even though she grew up as a pampered noble child. Katherine Kirkstone is the very spirit of Impudence, innovation, and being an all out Tom boy. All in all she was a very magnificent woman and I am sure that both she and Peter’s children were absolutely adorable!!!!!
