<Steven returns to his seat beside Gandalf. He seems relieved. The members of the Council stare at the Remote, mesmerised by it. It appears to start whispering to each of them in turn. Each person hears it differently.>
Arnold Schwarzenegger; <rises to address the Council> In a dream, I saw the eastern sky grow dark. But in the West a pale light lingered. A voice was crying: Your doom is near at hand. (He approaches the Remote on the plinth.)
<The Man reaches out towards the Ring. Gandalf and Tony exchange concerned looks. The Man's fingers hover above the Remote.>
<Tony leaps up.>
Tony; Arnold!
Arnold; It is a gift. A gift to the foes of Al Queda. Why not use this Remote? <paces> By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe! Give us the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against them!
Cofi Annon (undistinguished); You cannot wield it! None of us can. The One Remote answers to Al Queda alone. It has no other master.
Arnold; And what would a reporter know of this matter?
Condoleezza Rice; This is no mere reporter. He is Cofi Annon, leader of the U.N. . You owe him your allegiance.
<Arnold returns to his seat>
Gandalf; Cofi Annon is right, we can not use it.
Tony; You have only one choice. The Remote must be destroyed.
