My brother got a bonsai book from his work at a garden center, and I have decided that I want to grow some. After reading the book, most of it, I think getting some tree cuttings are the best way to start for me. I saw a small bonsai exhibit in Longwood Gardens, somewhere in Maryland, over Christmas, and they had a Japanese juniper that I really liked. Overall, I like the pines better than the deciduous, but I think I will try to grow some maple or elm or birch as well as the pines. Once I get some bonsai skills I want to create a miniature forest on a giant piece of rock. I like the curved trunk and slanted styles and I think experimenting with some windswept styles would be cool as well. The next step is to actually get some pots and cuttings xp
