Worst Enemy
I don’t know you,
…Said in silence…
I HATE YOU!,
…screamed in violence…
You’re all I hate; you’re all I fear,
And yet you’re with me every year.
Missing nothing, always there
Watching, waiting an endless stare.
Ignoring help sent from on high,
I try to fight alone but I,
Just cannot seem to beat this foe,
Who’s equal with me, blow for blow.
I shut the lights and hide my face,
Close my eyes, and lose my place
The battle rages every day,
And still my pride gets in the way.
I’ll beat him on my own I scream,
I have no need to form a team.
But the war will continue for many years
Bringing with it, all my fears.
For though I scream and yell, I see,
The mirror looking back at me.
