I know Pride month has come and gone but I figured, why not talk about it. It's taken me awhile to realize this but I'm Aromantic asexual.

What this means for me is I have little to no romantic feeling for people. I love my mom, of course but that's different. This also means I have no sexual attraction. I might still look at someone and think they look cute, but that's as far as it goes.

It's taken me awhile to realize this about my self since growing up you're always told at some point in your life, you're going to want to be down to roll. Not that's not saying I didn't try, but it never felt right. It just kind of felt I had to because it was a normal thing to do in a relationship and I now realize, I was wrong. I was never forced into it, but I would agree because again, it was 'normal'. It should have been, but not for me, I should had stuck with no, but I thought there was something wrong with me for not wanting to take that step farther.

This might also have something to do with me not wanting children as well. Not that I don't like children, I just know that part of life is not for me. Growing up, watching how my dad treated me, I'm a lot like him. I'll never be ready for kids, I'll never have that mindset and I think if he had been honest with himself back then, I wouldn't be here. But hey, I'd rather be honest, then live a lie.

At any rate, thanks to the LGBTQIA community I understand myself better and I'm okay with what I went through and the road that got me here today. I'm I in a relationship now? No and I don't think I ever will be again, but I have my friends and at the end of the day that's all I need.
