The planet earth contains different sources of energy that can be used to make our lives simpler. The major drawback to many of these sources is that they are harmful to the environment. However, there are greener alternative energy sources that exist that have less of an environmental impact, and you will find out more about them in this article.

<h2>Solar Farm Rejected Amid Fears It Will 'Suck Up The Sun's Energy'</h2>

A town council in North Carolina rejected plans to rezone land for a solar farm after residents voiced fears it would cause cancer, stop plants from growing and suck up all the energy from the sun. His wife, Jane, a retired science teacher, feared the proposed solar ranch could hinder photosynthesis -- the process of converting light energy from the sun into chemical energy for fuel -- in the area and stop plants from growing. She added that no one could tell her solar panels didn't cause cancer. Solar Farm Rejected Amid Fears It Will 'Suck Up The Sun's Energy'

<h2>Morocco to switch on first phase of world's largest solar plant</h2>

Morocco’s king will switch on the first phase of a concentrated solar power plant on Thursday that will become the world’s largest when completed. The power station on the edge of the Saharan desert will be the size of the country’s capital city by the time it is finished in 2018, and provide electricity for 1.1 million people. Noor 1, the first section at the town of Ouarzazate, provides 160 megawatts (MW) of the ultimate 580MW capacity, helping Morocco to save hundreds of thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
