My name is Ken Batsu and I am 20 years old. Although my early life isn't that great, I am still a good person at heart. Sometimes, I ask myself why my family and I live in a cursed city of corrupted people all these years. I was taught how to use weapons, particularly for when it comes to being an assassin. I was also taught to steal from the rich since we often live in poorer areas. My family consists of loving parents---a father who once sells fish at a supermarket but later enlists in the army to provide for us and a mother who works long hours at a restaurant and later at a hospital. I also have an uncle who knows how to fight and handles weapons. On top of that, I have an older brother, who always gambles just to earn money, and a younger sister, who goes to school like ordinary kids. Things seem to be topsy-turvy for us.
The only thing I regret is killing, even though I only do so to protect my family. As a result, the slave my uncle pre-ordered for me ran away and never returned despite my best attempts of changing and getting her back. She was an innocent, sweet girl who was sold to the markets for her parents to earn money for their sick son. Now, I feel like a monster, but who am I to blame besides the corrupt people in the city we live in? Sometimes, I even ask why we do this other than to survive. Again, my name is Ken Batsu and I am also a victim of corruption.
