EU ETS
Helping aircraft operators to manage their carbon risks
Aviation is one of the fastest-growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2012 emissions from all flights that originated, terminated or crossed the European Economic Area (EEA) were included in the EU ETS. The legislation applies to EU and non-EU airlines alike. However, ‘Stop the Clock' legislation for the period 2013-2016 has led to the exclusion of non-intra EU flights. Intra EU flights will still be fully covered. If the directive is not readjusted by the EU, application of the original legislation will come into effect from 2017.
