Got to school, ready to learn, (Stop that laughing Rachel, I can hear your sarcastic laughter now.) and was sitting with the writing club (minus Alex, who doesn't matter anyways) discussing the piece of literary trash that is Earagon (fueled by the anti- Eragon/Eldest thread hosted here on Gaia.) and then we heard this girl give out a blood-curdeling scream.
We all ran to the door to find that there were two cars that had crashed in the parking lot. We all ran out there and I think half the school was already out there. Rachel and I were able to get to the front pretty easily though. It didn't seem long before what was (I'm fairly certain) the other half of our school coming out, teachers, principal, and all, were out there with us.
Upon a closer inspection (well, as close as we could get.) we noticed that there was a girl in one car, a guy in the other one, and a guy on the hood of one of the cars. The first problem we noticed was that the person on the hood of the car was still breathing fine, despite the fact that it looked as if he'd lost 50% of the blood in his body and it was all dried on the hood of the car. Looking a bit harder, we noticed, seemingly at the same time, the person on the hood was Alex. Rachel stopped on my foot so I wouldn't laugh, looking between him and the perfectly intact windshield. (Not to mention the girl in the passenger seat of the car he was in. Seriously, no girl is stupid enough to get in a car with Alex.)
Then I looked in the other car. Guess who was in the drivers seat? None other then my twin brother Zack. That was another thing wrong. Everyone at school knows that Zack can't drive to school in the mornings.
Detective Small came out and announced that it was called a wake up call and it was a mock car crash. The ambulance came and took off with the passenger (They used the jaws of life to get her out of the car) and a hearse came and took away Alex. Zack got tested and taken away for drunk driving by the police.
Then we went inside and had a LONG assembly over car crashes and safety and drinking and driving. We went to lunch and the police ate our school lunch. We have such a brave force.
After lunch we had a funeral in which Rachel played the piano for and they had me speak as the drunk driver's sister and a friend of the victim. It was rather difficult to think of something good to say of Alex.
But we got the full day off of school. And we had the party later that night at Mandy's.
