Last night was the night of the talent competition finals for "The Voice" singing competition at a local showbar for a $500 cash prize!
It's about 20 minutes until the competition, and a last minute decision is made right after the person in charge of the competition speaks to one of the contestants, who is obviously the person the most full of himself. The decision is that all of a sudden, there will be judges! Originally, it was that it was going to be decided by the audience.
So, I'm here like. Alright... That was a little weird, but okay. I easily out sing and out perform either of the other two finalists. And this is not me just being full of myself or self-absorbed. It's the fact that I've been performing professionally for 8 years, was an American Idol semi-finalist, a professional vocal/performance coach, and that I attented university for music performance, along with the fact that the other two are practically tone deaf.
So the competition happens, we all do our thing, and they ask us all if we have anything to say to the people in the crowd. I didn't hear what they said because I was back stage, but from what I was told, they were completely full of themselves and talking about how good they were. One of the contestants (the one who ended up winning and that was talking to the guy in charge) was trying to say how he's on tour, and he's been performing so much, blah blah. But his last performance was a month ago, and he's done maybe a total of 4 gigs in the past 3 years. All of which he had to pay the venue to let him perform.
I get paid gigs at least 5 times a month for the past 8 that owners of companies, venues, festivals, etc., ask me to perform at...
