When he told her she was beautiful, she didn't really understand how to accept that. "Thank you?" She said it as a question, trying to process it. When he mentioned the markings on her, she frowned slightly, but quickly let it go. He just didn't know, or understand. It was okay. "They aren't tattoos. They're brandings." As she spoke, the colors faded and soon looked like scarring. She wrapped her right hand around her left wrist, suddenly growing self-conscious about her markings.
"I'm edgy? I don't even know what that means. But, I can certainly take you to the office. I've only been here a short while longer than you. Maybe a day. I don't really keep track of time, just seasons." She walked past him, motioning for him to follow. Opening a door about two feet behind him, she waited for him to walk through. "This is the main office. If you have your dorm assignment, the dorms are going to be out the main building door that we both came inside from, and to your right. My room is on the roof if you ever need anything. If I'm not in there, I'm in the cafeteria." She looked at him and tilted her head. "You're nice to look at." Even to her it sounded awkward, but she didn't know how to return his compliment from earlier. He wasn't bad looking, but she didn't have much of an idea to go off of.
