Thanksgiving 2013
Well, as you all probably know, today is Thanksgiving. I, of course, celebrated it with Thorsten, the love of my life, and of course Xander, Dallas, and Betty, but they are less important.
Now, it was my first year at making Thanksgiving dinner, so I was rather excited.
I spent nearly $200 at Loblaws this Saturday getting all the necessities, though I feel like I didn't spend enough money, considering the intensity of this holiday. It's my first though, so I will let it slip just this once.
Now, the turkey was the hardest part. That bird weighed almost as much as I do. I followed the directions in a recipe book I got from Thorsten for Christmas last year.
Everything went pretty well. Everything but one thing: the pie. I made my pie from scratch. Using premade pies, or even using canned pie filling is for lazy people, so I bought some pumpkins. It was a disaster. I bought the jumbo pumpkins. That was my first mistake. There was not enough flesh in them, and I had to return to Loblaws to pick up some pie pumpkins.
It took me a few hours, but I did eventually get the filling right,
It was the crust. I just couldn't get it to turn out. I don't understand. I did everything the recipe book told me to do. It was so horrible. Thankfully my supporting husband, Thorsten, was there to help me through this difficult time, but I really feel like a failure and like I let my whole family down.
I hope next year turns out better.
