The story of the Reapers...

In the beginning of the youngest years of the world there was a single reaper his name was Arkanous Shinigami, Arkanous saw the world in all of its imperfection, the imbalance of it all. Nothing ever died and nothing grew so weak it just stopped living. So Arkanous felt that the world would be overrun and destroyed since there was nothing to keep the numbers down. Thus did he begin to kill; he killed over and over and over taking the souls of all those who had lived long enough to fully serve out their purpose. Everything became balanced, the animals all learned to accept Death, but when the Humans came about all of that changed.

The humans began to eat the animals as was natural for the cycle of life that had come to be known as Life to Death. But then the humans became out of control, they started fighting each other for pointless things. Land, Food, Rights to the women, and thus did Arkanous become angered at the humans. He went to the deities and asked for help in handling the humans, but the deities became stronger from the worship that the humans gave to them and thus did they refuse. So it was left to Arkanous to solve the problem of the senseless killings of the humans. Reaping was a natural force of life and death, only those who were no longer able to carry their purpose in life were killed by Reaping. Humans created weapons of war and waged great battles against each other even in their earliest years which brought unnatural deaths and became an unnatural force of the world and this unnatural force caused imbalance.

So, to manage the humans and their irrational ways, Arkanous began a campaign that sought to bring balance once again to the world he so loved. He released a great darkness amongst the humans in the guise of 13 great weapons of pure power. These weapons would corrupt the strongest of men and would then be used to bring down great masses of humans in quick succession. This, Arkanous thought, would bring a sense of reason and understanding of death to the humans. But he was very wrong about this; the weapons were taken up and used to wage wars against the others who wielded the weapons of the Reaper. One by one they all fell until one man reigned supreme above the other humans and thus he was seen as the greatest warrior of the lands. This man was known as Xenakt the immortal, and he alone wielded all 13 weapons of the Reaper.

Arkanous grieved for his mistake and saw that he had given the humans control over death in this attempt to teach them of their flawed ways. He took himself into the realm of the deities and asked on his hands and knees for the deities to show him some compassion and to help him to teach the humans respect for the balance of life and death. The deities refused him, but his eye was caught by a young deity woman, her name was Mortekei. She served as the guardian of justice over the souls who were killed in battle and thus taken by Arkanous once he saw them fall, Mortekei grew fond of Arkanous and sought to be with him. They took up each other’s hands and left the realm of Deities behind as they went into the realm of Arkanous. There they were together for what would seem like centuries in the human world but was only days in the Realm of Arkanous. In this realm was Arkanous’ first child born, she was blinded by the blind arrogance and aggression of the humans, she was rendered speechless by the oppression and lack of voice that the weak and the animals had against the tyranny of the other humans. Her name was Ruin, and she was Arkanous’ first child and his greatest love.

Ruin would go about the world of the humans blind and mute as she was subjected to the insolence and the immoral behavior of the humans. She grew angry and began to kill those who she felt deserved to die. Ruin became feared and was shunned from the world of the humans due to her great power and their fear of her. She wandered aimlessly as Arkanous watched with Mortekei from the realm, as she began to lose all hope for humanity she came across a young girl and her father being beaten by a vicious tribe leader. Ruin stepped in to help but the man beseeched for her to not interfere as he covered his daughter from the beatings. As Ruin drew closer the leader of the tribe turned to her and wielding a strange blade he struck at her quickly, Ruin caught the blade and upon opening her blind eyes she was able to feel the familiar energy from the blade, it was one of the weapons of the Reaper. She disarmed the man as he then reached back and grabbed two more weapons of the Reaper from his back it became clear to Ruin of who the leader was, it was Xenakt the Immortal.

Ruin grew angry as her Reaper form was unleashed in all of its power and with her anger she drew the Reaper blade and struck out madly and blind with rage at Xenakt as he put up a very difficult challenge. After disarming him of 8 of the 13 weapons Xenakt ran from Ruin with his body cut and badly injured from the fight, Ruin regained her composure as she helped the man and his daughter up from the ground and to her surprise the man and girl hugged Ruin tightly thanking her for protecting them. Ruin was taken aback by this as she had only known the dark qualities of humans, she never knew of their compassion and their gratefulness. She went to her father and mother in the realm of Arkanous where she sat in wait, pondering the fate of the humans.
It was during this time of pondering that Arkanous bore his second child, a son who he named Sin. Sin quickly grew powerful and with Ruin he went and reaped the souls of those who had served their purpose, however Sin had a more dangerous influence on the humans. Sin tempted the humans to act foolishly and impulsively causing them to bring harm to themselves and thus end up killing themselves faster. Sin realized he had grown too powerful and split his soul into five pieces creating five persons of himself. Sin, Fury, Despair, Dread, and Chaos were the names of these vessels and Sin took up the form of Chaos first. Chaos thrived and grew stronger from the destruction and the immense lack of control that the humans had become consumed by. Chaos began to act strangely, with his growing power he became more independent and started acting upon his own free will rather than act under the command of Sin. Chaos grew so strong that he was finally able to sever the connection and the control that Sin had over him and became Chaos the Ancient, as he set out to wreak havoc among the world of the humans.
Sin took up the vessel Dread who was significantly weaker than Chaos, Chaos took up a fight against Dread and easily was able to overpower and destroy Dread sending his corpse back to the realm of Arkanous. As the body was dropped into the realm before Arkanous' throne, the soul was taken and from Arkanous’ hand was it locked into a Void Totem which is basically the item used to store any number of things of any size and to lock them away in a time capsule that moved at such slow rate of time that eons would pass in what seemed a single minute. As Sin took up Despair he found a beautiful Fallen Angel who was named Ragnarok and came to love her dearly. They bore children under the Real form of Sin instead of one of his vessels and they had eight children who were named Wrath, Envy, Pride, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, and Death.

Death was born without any touch of the realm of life and was thus unable to bring life to those who were killed before their time. She could only kill those who were destined to die at the time she came for them. The seven other children went out into the world and corrupted the humans causing them to kill each other and themselves with their blind actions and empty reason. Sin went into many realms seeking the power to strengthen his father’s dream of creating and keeping balance, it was in one of these realms that the pure demon Neffaria was found and brought into the world of the Reaper. Neffaria became a half reaper and learned the secrets of the Reapers, he grew very strong and being a pure demon he had great control over mana and energy, he gained the abilities and skills of the Reapers as he learned of them and of their laws and restrictions. The lessons Neffaria learned were important and would mean the difference between correct and incorrect actions as a Reaper.

These were the laws and rules he learned:
1. A Reaper will only kill to keep or create balance and/or peace.
2. A Reaper will always be fair and just in his actions and decisions.
3. A Reaper can NEVER attack or pass judgment on a God, Goddess, or any true Deity.
4. A Reaper can sacrifice their body to protect the weak or the innocent, if the body is destroyed and the reasons for their sacrifice are just and honorable the soul will be sent directly to the Realm of the Reapers and the Reaper will be reborn.
5. A Reaper will only die if their body AND their soul(s) is(are) destroyed completely.
6. A Reaper will always respect the natural forces of the world.
7. No Reaper can serve in the military or in any form of unnatural killing force that requires the unnecessary killing of others without actual cause for each target to be killed.

It was after Neffaria was brought into the Reapers that the seven children of Sin and Ragnarok became the highest court within the Reapers, this court became known as The Nexus. Upon impressing the court with his ability to quickly learn the ways of the Reapers and his rapid rise in power and skill, Neffaria was asked to join the court along with Ruin and Sin. He took this offer and earned the name Fear due to his ability to control and create a realm of pure Fear about his target that would trap them in a nightmare of their greatest fears and eventually drive them to the point of insanity where they would then beg for death. Fear, Sin, Ruin, and the 7 were the force of balance between Life and Death, Wrath took up the hand of Death and in a plight of compassion Arkanous gave Death the gift of being able to bear life for a single day. After that day she would be bound to the realm of the dead for all eternity. It was during this one day that she was seeded with a child by Wrath, when the child was born she was given the name Mairus Mellodius Shinigami Hellwraith, her nickname was Melody.

The Nexus became known as the Nexus of Sin and Arkanous took up the name and title King of the Reapers, King Arkanous Shinigami. The Reapers created thousands of Realms and they began to grow wary of the presence of the remaining five Weapons of the Reaper. And so is the task given to the Reapers to keep the balance and also to find the remaining 5 weapons of the Reaper. Each remaining weapon was given to a guardian of the humans to be scattered across the world to be wielded by those who would use their power for reason and for honorable causes while also keeping them hidden from the Reapers. The weapons bore names and were able to destroy any human made weapon that came against them, the names were considered sacred and if uttered their full power would be unleashed but the Reapers would be able to locate exactly where the weapons are.

1. Shi no Tsume – (Sheh No Sue-may) – Death’s Claw. This weapon resembled a large curved wrist blade that would be held with the blade facing outwards towards the elbow and the hilt facing in towards the chest.
2. Naitomeasonzu – (Night-oh-may-ah-sown-suh) – Nightmare Thorns. This weapon resembled a whip that could extend its length to a maximum of 20 feet with hooked spines upon the whip and a medium sized sickle blade at the end of the tasseling.
3. Doreddosuta – (Door-aid-oh-stah) – Dread Star. This weapon resembles two large ring blades with a grip in the center and the edges of the blades are engraved with magic allowing them to cut through any stone or object of natural mass with ease.
4. Jajjimentokuriba – (Jah-gee-min-toe-koo-ree-bah) – Judgment Cleaver. This weapon is a dual staved quadruple bladed Scythe weapon similar to the shape of the Swastika but with a hole in the center where the four poles meet with a cross (+) grip within the hole for spinning the weapon around and is generally held with the blades behind or directly in front of the wielder.
5. Jigoku no Hasshinsha – (-Gee-go-koo no hah-sheen-sha) – Hell Caller. This weapon is morphic and highly unpredictable, it takes the form of the weapon known as the final soul arcana, this weapon will take the shape of the weapon that the wielder is best with using and so if the wielder is great with many weapons the Jigoku no Hasshinsha can take the form of all of those weapons.
