The Happiness of Those Who Believe- 1
Summary: Saiph is depressed and spends his days locked away in his room. With Rigel and Mintaka showing a lack of concern for their sibling, Hatsya takes it upon herself to cheer her brother up by taking him the Gambino Funfair Carnival, which is run by the Gaia Scouts. Unbeknownst to town citizens, the scout troupe has a sinister secret...

“I'm home!” Hatsya called out, loudly, announcing her arrival. The girl shut the door behind her and kicked off her shoes in the foyer before advancing further inside. The first sound that greeted her was the loud shouts of glee from her sister and groans of frustration from her brother as they entertained themselves in the romp room upstairs. Every evening, it was the same thing. Rolling her eyes, the youngest member of the family shook her head. “Don't they have anything better to do?” she asked no one in particular.

It was nearly dinner time, and someone should've been in the kitchen making preparations by the time she returned home from school. But Hatsya had long since stopped expecting much of anything from the elder siblings. Sighing, she realized that once again, she would have to be the mature one and make dinner for the family again, while Rigel and Mintaka were playing, and Saiph was likely holed up in his room, as usual.

Curly pigtails bobbed on either side of her head as she hurriedly passed through the length of hallway that would lead her to her room. The mattress of her bed groaned in protest as the young star tossed her backpack onto it. A tiny sigh of relief passed her lips now that the weight on her back and shoulders had been removed. Slender, silver arms rose over head as she stretched.

There was no time to relax, Hatsya noted; and class assignments would have to wait. All she really had time for was a quick change into some more casual clothes. Off came the vivid teal blazer she had on, to represent Isle de Gambino's private college academy. A short, turquoise tie came undone from around her neck, and a pale blue shirt was shrugged off quickly. A skirt that matched the blazer came off last, the uniform being traded for a soft, white and pink t-shirt, and comfortable pink shorts.

Exiting her room, Hatsya turned her attention to the door adjacent from her own, a frown touching her lips. A yellow and black “keep out” sign decorated the door, and music loud enough to rattle the walls and drown out Rigel and Mintaka's noise from upstairs blared from within.

“Kimochi wa dokka tooku no hou he Can you reach me?!
Nobody can find me here
This is my secret place
No one knows and no one will know ...”

Inside, Hatsya could make out the sound of singing along to the lyrics to Mr. Gendai Speaker. She knew she'd regret buying him that One OK Rock cd for Saiph's birthday. The elder siblings knew better than to carelessly disturb the one within, but Hatsya was unafraid. In no time, she was standing before the door, pounding loudly to be heard over the track that blared. “Get washed up for dinner!” she demanded, in an authoritative tone. Not waiting for an answer, she turned on her heel and hurried to the kitchen, without bothering to inform the remaining siblings of the promise of food. Rigel and Mintaka would always stop what they were doing and come downstairs, anyway, at the first smell of food.

Saiph became silent, eyes staring blankly at the wall that his bed was pressed up against. His sister had rapped on his door, telling him to clean up before he came down to dinner, but what was the point? What was the point in doing anything at all? What would it matter, he questioned; perhaps for the hundredth time that day. Family dinners together were just an excuse to bring him out of his secluded sanctuary and pretend that all was right with their dysfunctional, and detached family.

His vision turned dark as he shut his eyes, attempting to once again block out the rest of the world. He didn't want to confront anyone, not even his siblings. Why should he, when not even they really cared about him? Rigel and Mintaka were judgmental of him, whispering hurtful lies and gossiping behind his back, and Hatsya...well, Saiph reasoned, he liked his little sister...sort of. She never had anything bad to say about him, but had taken on the role of mother figure in their small family, and that was something he didn't care for, since their mother had long since left them.

Nothing was held sacred anymore. Nothing was right with the world, and everyone shared the blame. Of that much, Saiph was certain. The problems extended far beyond his small family. He had come to that realization shortly after landing on Gaia. The conviction he had of being unloved by Gaians had led only to resentment, which in turn led him to begin to begin seeing people for what they really were, and their reprehensible actions and personalities with unobstructed clarity.

No longer did he wish to be loved and lavished by such people,or even continue living on the same goddess forsaken rock as them. The young man sighed, wearily, rolling over onto his back and throwing an arm over his face. His stomach growled, derailing his train of thought, and urged him to heed Hatsya's demands and reluctantly start taking measures to wash before dinner.
