Passion Burns: An Introduction: Chapter One
The cries could hardly be hear as they blended with the wailing sirens of the street cars, grinding to a halt outside the complex building. The roar of flames and rolling heat combine to strike the brick buildings walls, created a symphony of cracks, pops, screech and groan. It hardly mattered how loud the world screamed around him however. It changed nothing. His blank eyes peered across the road, a dull luster creeping around the iris, a whirlpool absorbing the light of life. He could not feel the weight of the collapsed floor, pressing down on him a vice crushing out his life. He could not feel the rolling heat, nor hear the roaring flames that surround him. His eyes could only stare forward at the spot the creature had emerged from. He could only look at the still rippling air from the spot the air had ripped open like a shirt when the stitching gives way. As the screams filled the air in the building heavier then the smoke could ever become, his eyes began to burn with something more then just the particles of crumpling building.
~The Week Prior
Eri walled down the hall, his shoulder nearly brushing the hallways fresh layer of paint as he slipped hastily between the doors frame and the shutting apartment door. As the door clicked behind him he smiles softly setting down the small box on the floor looking around the room.
"Finally. Thats the last of it..."
Boxes littered the living room floor, piled against the far wall, framing the apartment window in a cardboard collection of possessions. Eri smiled more when he saw the target of his words looking up at him with a lazy expression etched deeply in her brow. The white ferret stretched before climbing down from its nest of hazardously stacked books to scamper quickly up Eri;s leg to perch on his shoulder.
Laughing at his companion Eri shook his head speaking softly. "Your moving Ember? I will take that as a good sign then."
Ember glared up from his shoulder as if to reply that he still had work to do but instead snuggled up into the worn out black hood of his sweatshirt and tried to resume the dream she had been having.
