A void exists where love once overflowed;
it does not yield to passions ripe with rage.
No pleasure can be reaped from barren field,
that once held steeped fertility within.
The war now wages deep within his heart
to restore feelings that were once so deep;
yet now the bitterness of actions done
weigh heavily upon his tortured mind.
Betrayal is so more than spoken word
that only those who've felt its sharpened sting
can testify to all its heinous power,
and how it drives one mad with grim remorse.
He knows not now if he shall overcome
the emptiness engulfing him within;
nor does he risk to open wide his heart
to let fair tongue and form deceive again.
