Days Gone By

Constantly, days gone by have haunted me.
I toss to sleep, kept awake with thoughts I keep of issues I'm acknowledging.
It's all within.
I revisit every sin as if they were still happening.
If I could only make things right.
I've gained insight.
And along with it, strength to fight.
Like day and night, my moon will set, my sun will rise.
Don't act surprised, by these lyrics that I've comprised.
It's only a small tribute to how I've grown wise.
And I reflect, on good things in my life I've wrecked.
What I'd protect means nothing from the retrospect.
It's future tense.
I can put up walls in my defense.
But do they keep you out, or are they built to keep me in?
