Romeo and Juliet Character Analysis Essay
Romeo as the tragic hero of the play had his tragic flaws. They definitely were not good flaws so what were they? His main flaws are that he tended to be overdramatic, he could be immature at times, and he is almost always being impulsive. He does stuff sometimes like killing people even if they are not on purpose. Like in the beginning of the play he replaces Rosaline for Juliet.
The first of Romeos tragic flaws is that he is very impulsive he does things without thinking. The biggest example of his impulsiveness is the two people he killed. He let his emotions override his common sense. First, he killed Tybolt because Tybolt killed Mercutio. Then, he killed Paris because Paris got on his nerves. Last, he killed himself because he could not live in a world without his Juliet. His impulsive behavior just brought him more issues.
Next, he was overall very overdramatic though out the play. He is very overdramatic about how much he loves Rosaline. And very childish about how he will never find love again. Romeo is more in love with the concept of love than with the woman herself. You have to love the person first not just have girlfriends to have then and to say you are in love. It does not work that way. He gets overdramatic with love. He needs to get a real hold on what love is. So getting into fake love is bad. You need to be aware of whether or not you are in love.
Last, he got real immature in some parts of the play. At the beginning of the play agrees to replace Rosaline with another woman because she would rather be pure and never love him back. Then, he goes on to get a new girlfriend. In Friars cell after he killed Tybolt and being banished. He wailed and cried over his new fate. When the nurse came to tell news he tried to commit suicide but the friar told him he could still see Juliet. So he went to Juliet and celebrated his marriage.
These are Romeos main tragic flaws. Romeo is over dramatic, immature, and impulsive. He never thinks before he acts. He killed two people and himself. And he tried to commit suicide. These were some of his tragic flaws.
