So today I read a little excerpt from a book by Joan Didion. I'm not quite sure what gender she is, but his/her name sounds pretty french. I'm guessing its a girl. Regardless, she went on and on about how she came about her Writer's Notebook. She believes that the notebook should not be like a diary, instead, it should be more of a reflection on how one feels, not about the situation. My teacher said pretty much the same thing, in regards to the notebook. So in this Online Journal, I will, without stopping so much as to ponder about my thoughts, write about how I feel, without worry about what others think.

The rules are simple: for five minutes or more at a time, you must not stop writing, you must not go back and edit your work, and if you cannot think of what to write next, simply write "I don't know what to say" or repeat the last word until you can think of what you're going to say next. Doing this at least three times a week will make you a better writer. Topics could range from anything like an intellectual quote to a theme in a book or even to a funny thing mentioned in that bar you went to last week.

I really do enjoy this type of teaching method because in a way, you're teaching yourself how to become a better writer. It is pretty good, man. Now I don't know what to say, or rather, type. razz Although my teacher is expecting us to write this in a notebook, I figured I may as well type stuff while I'm at it (because I need to work on my typing skills LOL). The other benefit of sharing this online is that I can have you, the people of Gaia, help me become a better writer by criticizing (hopefully in a good way) my work. I really wish I could one day become a brilliant writer, but I digress. Thank you.
